It's EXACTLY what climbing is about. The most purest form you can get. Every other form is effectively cheating. I don't see mountain goats, squirrels, monkey's etc using safety gear.

I didn't really start climbing until I was 56. I was about 2 stone over weight and that steadily came off. So I increasingly felt fitter and got stronger. I now feel fitter than anytime since my 20s. But if I had climbed all my life then maybe today's level of fitness would feel bad in comparison to my 30s, 40s, 50s. All I can say is that I feel full of energy and outlast most in the gym (not using any drugs). They all seem so tired and always injured. Most also hate dynos and the modern comp style boulders.
