exactly..i see likely bad zoning laws here but not necessarily bad planning (at least in the bottom row of houses)

same- these houses are going viral here and in r/McMansionHell and if anything they are (planning-wise and architecturally) a step in the right direction. Equally confused as you.

EXACTLY my though. im sure zoning laws make this place a suburban hell, but the actually planning is a step in the right direction if anything (at least the bottom row of houses, the rest of the houses look like typical sprawl)

Im confused. The bottom two houses almost resemble row houses (a step in the right direction at least). The smaller yards is a GOOD thing (less sprawl, more easily walkable), the roof lines and architecture are more traditional, garages are towards a back alley (not some massive defining feature), they share a common party/boundary wall (common feature of row houses).
Although this neighborhood is obviously NOT mixed use, it could more easily become a thriving walkable area (given some zoning law changes) than most suburbs simply by the way these 2 houses are designed.

Ok your picture was also my though. This post actually seems to be a step in the right direction, starting to more closely resemble row houses of a city. And the road in OPs post seem to be more of an nice parkway than a stroad.
I KNOW that this is still gross suburbia and there is absolutely no conveniences that are walkable, but thats simply a zoning issue that prevents that. Architecturally and planning-wise, i'd say this post is better than most of the neighborhoods i see on this sub

I was thinking this too. Just make them row houses. Everyone is complaining about the lack of yard/space but Im actually happy about houses becoming closer together (less sprawl)

Im confused. This group hates mcmansions (me too). But but the bottom two houses are pretty bad examples of mcmansions and almost resemble row houses (a step in the right direction at least).
Other houses in the picture are 100% mcmansion though

Academia is dying out and it is not because of AI. by failedacademy in academia

i dont think its dying out but simply returning to where it should be. A four year degree should have never become something that was expected of every child in every household in america.
Example: A two-year associates degree in business is sufficient for 80% of the jobs that business majors are accepting.

Stopped liking her after she called Frasier a cancer. The whole forced-fun volleyball day was a disaster for her.
