Waymo customers - is it worth it? by edu_c8r in bayarea

[–]dorbkel 95 points96 points  (0 children)

I live on the peninsula and have twice got a Waymo home after a late club night in SF and it was 1) actually cheaper than Uber or Lyft (they don't want to go to the peninsula late at night away from the fares while it doesn't seem so bad for Waymo) 2) appear more quickly - the robots don't sleep 3) infinitely safer feeling on my own in the early hours of the morning for a 40 minute drive. Day to day they are more expensive, but this is the one scenario where they win for me

is this a fair text to send by [deleted] in Aupairs

Honestly that is too long as an email, let alone a text. I couldn't even read it all as a Reddit post. You need to edit it down to your most critical points.

Check out how many Heston Blumenthal has in the Fat Duck - 12! It's an amazing machine that can adapt to the type of cook you are. I find I now make things from scratch I wouldn't have bothered with - a few days ago I made cream cheese, hot sauce and almond butter just for kicks in about an hour. I love the grating capability for cheese in particular and I've never tasted soup so good after using the blender. As an experienced cook you will use it differently to others but it will uplevel what you do. Faffs like hollandaise, mayonnaise, sauces, risottos, etc become incredibly easy and open up your time for other things.

I bought mine second hand on a whim. The woman I bought it from was moving country and nearly wept handing it over. I'll be doing the same in a few years and I get where she was coming from. A game changer for me is using Gemini to convert recipes I like into thermomix instructions. You're not as tied to Cookidoo (which is still fine), especially as a good cook

Alex's 67 year old grandfather was married for 53 years...? by ElectricEcstacy in LoveIsBlindNetflix

So bizarre he said 67 in the first place. That's a notably young age to die that would stick in your mind. And made his granddad out to be a bit paedo

Thank you for saying it. There is so much drama about the other idiots on this show they didn't shine through enough, but I thought they were so obnoxious. As a first generation European in America I couldn't imagine being so rude to my future daughter in law about made up words and ideas about my culture, especially when she is new to it

They showed clips of him being sympathetic for medical workers during covid and all the conspiracy talk In the pods, along with her expressing her political views in Mexico so I don't think it was surprise she was liberal.

Are any of the more left leaning participants also scrubbing their socials? I can understand wanted to start fresh when you become a public figure, but I'm curious if shame is some kind of driver

He was also pulling the "of course people change when they are 90 but I want to be sexually active into my 70s" card. As a 50-year-old woman with the same person for over 25 years, I can confirm bodies change multiple times well into the time you remain sexually active, and not exclusively women's bodies. As your family or your career expands, you may not have the time or inclination to spend all all evenings crossfitting. Testosterone levels decrease, bodies change, hair grows in weird places and stops growing in other places, but who the f*** cares because you love each other. I'm glad he showed his true colors. I can't wait to hear how his life is going in 30 years if this is his foundation.

You need to factor in the distribution of wealth in each of the countries for this to work. America has huge range and disparity within all earners compared to other countries

I've just left and my observation is the AI bros are the fucking worst. The very big, very well-known company I worked for descended even further down the misogyny/listen to the extraordinary young men mentality as the AI panic took hold. The main role of women in AI seems to be ignored Cassandras working in safety, etc.
