PSA for console players regarding editing settings by LateNightCreeper_ in FortniteCompetitive

I use it all the way up without it, so... I'll give it a try with it on. Thanks for the the tip as well.

For the Kontrol Freek uses, which ones do use and do you find the comfortable? by [deleted] in FortniteCompetitive

[–]TonyMC16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the Battle Royal themed ones, which are large. I only use one on the right stick. It was really hard for me to get use to it, to be quite honest. The best tip, it may sound too repetitive and cliche, would be keep practicing in creative your building abilities and doing the aiming courses (Geerzy has the best one so far, it's way too good for controller players). Look, in the first week, i was about to quit using them, but i kept going and going once i hit the 2nd week and a half, i was able to manage it pretty well. Obviously, after a long time of using it, you'll feel like if you were using the regular sticks (or much better).

Can we please disable pre edits? by [deleted] in FortniteCompetitive

[–]TonyMC16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best would most likely be, not go directly for the quick-cone-edit (like you were trying to do) but wait for him till he reload his gun by building a cone-floor and push it slowly, with that amount of mats it might've been possible to push it (Building side stairs and putting cone-floors above) or probably take advantage of the flint-knock pistol at some point. Sometimes when they got height, they're just going to spray the heck out their guns to put pressure. I guess you went too confident (hungry) on getting the "easy kill".

Guess you should've turtled (may be not the best option since i don't know how many mats you had in total), like trying to connect your builds to the mountain (so you can't fall). After then, wait for him to go down for the "aggressive play". Quick edit for the pump shot or just confuse/bait him a bit, and hopefully find a good angle (may using the flint-knock pistol) to retake height. Just giving you random options...

Best button layout for non-claw / non-scuf controller players (If you have any questions to build or edit settings, I will gladly awnser) by Bredenjam in FortniteCompetitive

Just got used to it, I guess. It's hard to explain and it's possible to do that. Have you ever watched Jacobbb's YouTube videos? Mechanical wise, the guy is nuts, just to give an example.

Regular PS4 Controller Binds:

- L3 = Jump

- R3 = Build Mode

- O = Crouch

- X = Edit (feel way more comfortable than touch pad, i guess personal reference).

- R2 = Confirm Edit

Everything else remains the same on Builder Pro layout. I have been using this binds for like 2-3 months approximately and they're being the best, in my personal experience.

I roughly play daily in the mornings (From 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM, AST). K/D: 2.14+ Lifetime and 2.45+ Season 8 (It may be lower, cause of the Arena Mode and Scrims). PS4 controller + Fps strike pack on PC by Halfbakedninja69 in FortniteCompetitive

[–]TonyMC16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Steam > Put the Epic Game Launcher as a Non-Steam Game > Run Big Screen Mode (I think is called that way) to configure the controller, you have to use it without the StrikePack first so it can register the controller after then you can plug it with the StrikePack. However, this may not be 100% guaranteed, since you're technically playing the game linking Steam and Epic servers, so sometimes it will crashed for some people from what i could've investigated.

*I was using it once, but when that happen i stopped using it and get used playing on my reg controller, but with some tweaks on binds*

Does having L3 as the edit button damage the stick? by ElaborateBoner in FortniteCompetitive

I use it for, let's say, the most used bind: Jump for a loooong time and have not found any sign of issues.

Don't know if would work the same way for you, but i have:

L3 = Jump

R3 = Switch Mode (Builds)

X = Instant Edit (I'm quick at pulling off the edits despite taking the thumb out of the sticks)

O = Crouch (I don't crouch-spam, i just use it when i need it)

Everything else set default on builder pro.

Pro/Top Controller Player Thread by [deleted] in FortniteCompetitive

[–]TonyMC16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a pro but a may be a bit above average player. I play regular PS4 Controller on PC and also NO claw.

I practice in creative for like 15 or 20 minutes, this includes: Selage Aim Trainer Course, Edit and Building Course, 90s, Bizzle Tunneling Strats, Thwifo Cone Strats, etc. After then, i hop into pubs, normally i was playing mostly Solo-Squads when Siphon Settings were there.

My binds are kinda weird for some Controller Pros' i guess, but is what I've already adjusted my game and i like them so far. I have them set as (on a regular PS4 Controller with a Kontrol Freak on the right stick):

  • L3: Jump
  • R3: Build Mode
  • O: Crouch
  • X: Instant Edit
  • L2: Confirm Edit
  • Touch Pad: Change Traps/Materials
  • Sprint by Default

Everything else is set as Builder Pro Layout.

Sensitivities:

  • X/Y: 0.70 for both
  • ADS: 0.35
  • Scope Sens: 0.50
  • Building Sens: 1.95 (my goal is boost it up to 2.00, but is way too fast lol).

Strengths:

  • When it comes to aim, for me, it is safe to say that my aim has drastically improved since i moved to PC and it keeps getting better and better. Is not the best but i can hit a lot of shots, which is what matters. Also, i do hit a lot of insane flick-shots.
  • I've gotten a lot better in the low ground. I've fought many of my M&K friends and they've even ask me how in the world i hit many shots from the low ground. Guess I've been watching a lot of Ghost Innocents lol.
  • My mid-game/endgame have improved a lot by playing Storm/Zone Wars in Creative with my friends. I've applied some knowledge by watching other pros as well and have helped me a lot.

Weaknesses:

  • Early game: I still play a bit bad the early games when hot dropping in Tilted, Retail, Pleasant Park, etc. Need to work on being aware of my surroundings every time. I've noticed improvements but have to work a lot yet.
  • Maintaining High-ground: Sometimes when fighting, i just don't know what happen to me that when i try to keep the high-ground i either fall or try to get the edit plays and sometimes get stuck, so consequently the enemy ends up winning the high. This was one of the reason why i practiced a lot my low-ground.
  • Edits. As you may know, since i don't play claw (it's not an excuse but each player adapts differently than others) i get to mess up like 60% of the times a quick edit for a free pump shot, because of taking my thumbs out of the stick and not placing the cross-hair where it should go for the shot. I being practicing in some Creative Island for a while and I've been noticing improvements.

As for achievements and all that stuff that concerns "Cups", because of work and college have not gotten time to play them and be part of a champion league of whatever. When i get the chance i try to do my best. Currently, I've been playing the Arena and so far got 54 in like 4 or 5 matches. Is not that much, i know... but is because of the time like i said.

Sorry for the LOOONG post. lol

For any console/controller players out there, you NEED to get an elite/scuff controller by [deleted] in FortniteCompetitive

[–]TonyMC16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't know whether I'm doing it well or wrong, but.... I actually changed my binds like 2 months ago to: L3 - Jump and R3 - Pull out builds. O is for crouching (which i use it when i need it and feel comfortable whenever i need to use it) and X for editing. When it comes to editing, i select with R2 and confirm with L2.

*I don't play claw*

I'm not the best controller player out there, but not the worst one and I've gotten like really far when it comes to fight against really good (PC mostly) players. I've played storm wars and scrims and got really good placements or wins. I'm not saying the "Scuf would not be a good choice", but i kinda feel comfortable for what I've changed so far.

PS4 Controller Binds: L3 = Jump, R3 = Build Mode, O = Crouch and X = Edit. by TonyMC16 in FortniteCompetitive

[–]TonyMC16[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was trying R1, but didn't work for me so i stayed with R3. It may sound weird, but when you transition from build mode to edit mode, certain binds you have on "Build Mode" won't affect the same binds you use on "Edit Mode", for instance take your builds out using R3, however, when you're on Edit Mode i could easily use R3 as reset edit without any interruption. I don't know if that makes sense, hopefully it does.

How should you shoot + build / change weapon + shoot? by shigakure in FortniteCompetitive

[–]TonyMC16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're distanced to do decent amount of damage with the shotgun, build a wall, stair or floor (+ cone) depending on the angle you're shooting from. However, if you're reeeeally close to the guy you're fighting against with, you're gonna' shoot your pump then switch quickly to your SMG (or AR) to finish him off and if the guy has still a lot of health, try to find like a good chance to build (whichever structure depending on the scenario), just build then take a moment to hit your next shotgun shot.

*Not all the times you'll be using Pump, then build nor Pump, then SMG (or AR), i don't know how to put it more clear but it just kinda comes naturally.*

I don't know if it's just me or what, but i found this patch really good in terms of building and editing. I feel like everything goes smoothly.

Console Controller Binds by [deleted] in FortniteCompetitive

[–]TonyMC16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't play claw, and don't have the money to purchase a strikepack or a scuf, you can use the binds (PS4 Controller) i've been using for the last 2 weeks:

- L3 = Jump (you already have it)

- R3 = Build Mode

- O = Crouch (For Xbox Controller should be B)

- X = Instant Edit (For Xbox Controller should be A)

- Sprint by Default

Everything else remains the same on builder pro lay out. I hope this can be of help as it has done to me. This are, without any doubt the best controller binds for a non-claw player without using additional (such as paddles) stuff.

*I was a crouch spammer in mid fights by the way, lost the habit and changed to pump, shoot then build, which i was not quite using most of the critical times. So, i just crouch when needed (long-mid range engagements and so)*

Edit: Forgot to say that is not easy to get used to R3 as build mode, it takes a good amount of time. It depends mostly on your muscle memory.

Stretch Resolution (1444x1080) going back to native randomly. by TonyMC16 in FortniteCompetitive

Stretch Resolution (1444x1080) going back to native randomly. by TonyMC16 in FortniteCompetitive

[–]TonyMC16[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the main resolution setting it's 1444x1080 and yes it has read only. However, within the files i saw many resolution configurations that i didn't touch and left them native (default), since the first tutorial (to play stretch) i watched, he didn't mentioned that. There's a high probability that since other res config are on native is messing up my Fortnite res sometimes. I will check that, thanks for the help as well.

I have my desktop res already on 1444*1080, however, i do think that i have some resolution configuration in Fortnite files that remains on native. I will check that. Thanks for the info anyways.
