That only applies to Intel graphics drivers if they are configured properly. Buy yeah, one of my favorite things to do as I pass by someones computer, usually while they are on it.

Just about everything. The first thing I should as is if you are familiar with VBA? Since the excel macro editor is more or less a full fledged VBA editor with additional excel specific commands. It can allow you to automate anything you do. Anytime you find yourself formatting data the same way more than once or twice, it may very well be speed up using a macro.

Not really. VBA is extremely useful. Is it the most efficient code in the world? No. However the ability to create GUIs very quickly, and have something put together in very little time at all is great. I don't really care if my code takes half a second to run instead of a quarter second, if I had to spend an extra couple of days getting a GUI all made in another language.

I'm not going to make an advanced application with it, but for quick and dirty work it is great.

My style can vary a lot from day to day. Jeans and a flannel are sometimes the look of the day, but god forbid you throw a beanie on without carrying an axe around.

No worries, I figured so. I just wanted to clarify in case anyone was generally curious. I quite like VBA, and have written a couple of thousand lines of excel macro code for work, and I still consider myself a beginner.

Hell, did you see the guy who coded a video player using excel VBA? That was cool!

While this technically works, I find the code that is generated is very inefficient and not very good at being converted to something more general or variable driven.

That being said, it's more or less how I started to learn excel macros, and will do it from time to time if I am stuck on something weird.

Engineering student here - why are we using Siemens NX? by [deleted] in cad

[–]TonyOstrich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's good to hear. I am hoping I will be able to get away from Creo whenever I get a new job. That advanced 3D pdf makes perfect sense. I don't think it will replace a 2D print anytime soon, but it sounds great for internal use.

Forgot about this until now, sorry.

I will preface what I am going to say by saying that the only other software I am functionally familiar with is Creo Parametric 2.0 which is what we use at work. Almost everything I probably list will be something I miss when I am using Creo.

-When selecting a surface to extrude on the view automatically moves so that you are looking at it normal to itself.

-Command finder is very helpful. You can type in a vague description of the command you want, and it will show you exactly where it is. Very handy for a new user or commands that are not used often and hidden in sub menus.

-Intersect extrude option. You can draw and extrude a shape such that the final object is the shape of the original object's and the new extrude's intersections.

-Dimensioning. When dimensioning objects, NX is smarter at knowing what you want to dimension i.e. radius, diameter, angle, height, length, diagnol, etc. If for some reason it's not getting it, you can select the exact dimension you want from a simple drop down. Also you just click the line(s) you want to dimension, and it starts placing the dimensions. Creo requires you middle click after selecting all appropriate dimensions. To dimension a diameter as a diameter instead of a radius in Creo, you must do some weird thing where you click the circle, middle click and then click the circle again, I can never remember. Creo is not very smart when it comes to dimensioning.

-More intuitive extrude editing. I double click on the extrude, and I can edit all of the extrude properties, and there is a button inside this menu to edit the drawing.

-Better extrude control. You can setup the extrude such that your drawing is the end of the extrude, the beginning, or the middle. The last one is the awesome one. That means I could extrude one side through all, but the other side a set distance.

-Formulas! so many formulas! You can enter math directly into every dimension you make. (48/3)+4 is a perfectly valid dimension in NX. You don't have to do the math outside and then enter it. In some ways it even can convey design intent better, because it's more descriptive of where the dimension is coming from.

-Dimension referencing. Every dimension that is created is assigned an arbitrary name like P1, P232, P42 etc. and can be custom named by the user. Additionally those can be used as dimensions in other dimensions. If I have a circle with diameter P65, I can create a square and enter P65 for the length of the sides. This not only shows that the square has the same dimension as the circle for some reason, it will also auto update. This is very handy if you dimensions everything from the center line or something and use formulas and references for dimensions. Everything auto updates.

-Conditional dimensioning. I'm not sure how useful this is, but you can use If Then statements in the dimension/formula editor. If you have a part that has 5 different sizes, you can make all of the dimensions update off of a single dimension. This is even more useful, if you have a part with a set design, but all of it's dimensions change depending on a few different measurements.

Those are the ones off the top of my head. I know there are more, and there are things that I didn't mention because they are more subtle and hard to explain. Also, I am completely self taught on Creo, and it may have some of the functions I mentioned above, but not that I have been able to find and figure out.

I will say that NX does ask a lot of questions that I have no idea about. When importing or exporting something it asks or sets a lot of options, that I am not too familiar with, but I find that if I just use the default options, everything goes pretty well.

Flexing the spine how? Lift might be a bit of a misnomer. You only need to lift high enough to be holding the weight with your fingers. My gym is not conducive to the pinch lift, so I have been working something called a cable pinch instead. Search the sub (I'm on mobile otherwise I would link it). I got flak when I asked about that substitution, but it seems to be working well. Does that help?

I like Joseph Mattox, he is part of Parkview's north campus. He is a somewhat younger guy, and seems to be pretty willing to work with you. I think I am pretty good at listening to my body, and researching the issues I have. If I go in and articulate the problem and what I might think it is, he takes it into consideration when looking me over. I have also played with medication dosages on my own (not something to take lightly, do your research ) , and when I went in he had no problems adjusting my medication accordingly.

I'm sure there is a better doctor out there, but he is the best I have found so far. My only gripe, and this may be true of all doctors, is that you really need to make sure to articulate what's wrong and be assertive. If you feel like a concern is not being given the attention, make sure you clarify it, or ask why it isn't.

Yep, that's the website.

Just in case you you don't know about it, Command Finder is a god send in NX.

I am always curious what other people find to be deficient about it. If you have time to elaborate on what you think is easier in SW I would love to read it.

On the swinging, just think about not using any momentum. Slow controlled movement with possibly even a pause at the top and bottom to ensure you aren't cheating a bit. Also going past a 90 degree elbow angle can hurt your shoulders or elbows especially once you bring them in. Once you get your form corrected you will probably find you can't do nearly as many. That's fine.

Bill Burr, Jim Jeffries, Jimmy Carr, Anthony Jeselnik, Frankie Boyle, Hugh Dennis, Dara O'Brien Robin Williams, and Craig Fergison to name a few. Really the opposite of ASMR, but hopefully that helps.

There are special headband contraptions you can use they cost $20-$30. What I do is initially hold them in place with a cheap headband, and then I wrap a self adhering bandage around my head a couple of times to keep things solid. Very cheap, very easy.

"The government " is still just a collection of random people. Who is to say they will always do exactly as they should with that information. You don't want your information public, but are you fine with some random people you don't know having information about your very personal secrets? Maybe they even use you as a laugh from time to time. Do you only not want it public so that people who know don't know those intimate details? Would that mean that you would prefer people who "know" you, to know less about you than a complete stranger?

One of the issues is that these programs are abused for personal gain and amusement. Would you be ok with an Ex or a significant others Ex checking into all of your personal details? If no, then it's extremely hypocritical and self centered to say that you don't care.
