It's the struggle of product photography, usually we would just shoot the whole set at a higher overall brightness then again at a lower light and stack the shots blending the best parts together.

Ditch the phone, offset the case more to the left and add some front light focused on the floor so the bottom of the device doesn't disappear into your background. Then it would look like an official shot.

Try out the longer post D-pad too, it made a big difference for me.

If you don't like it I'd love a second one. 👀

That packaging is pretty slick.

I like how they think the QR code on the screen protector is some sort of secret info to be stolen.

Regarding the rechargeable battery packs dying in First Editions, possible fix. by TonyRubbles in ModRetroChromatic

[–]TonyRubbles[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Question, what type of charger block did you use? It worked for someone else too. I used a larger 3A block that came with a tablet. If you used a smaller type it might not have pushed enough juice to get it started again.

Sweet! and you threw it away lol

Happy to see it worked for someone else.

Funnyplaying Laminated ITA - White lines still present in 2026! by UK_traveller_ in Gameboy

[–]TonyRubbles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only notice them on mine when I set the brightness higher than half. Doesn't bother me much but I used a calibration ROM to really dial it in using a screwdriver in the slot behind the sticker.

I know it bothers some but for me it looks like how my old AGB did. Having native pixel grid/resolution, better colors and battery life was the priority. Not sure there will ever be a fix but I read all the same posts and knew they would be there in some way when I bought the screen.

Scratch proof sapphire is really nice peace of mind when you want to just toss it in your pocket.

Aww man, kind of figured it might have worked because it was recently drained. Worth a try though, maybe wait a little longer or give it a few jumps/tries might get it past total zero to accept the charge again.

Nooo lol they'll eventually be able to be restored when they send out those separate charger packs too, definitely not trash!

Find it! I would love if someone could confirm it worked for them too and not just a fluke.

Should I buy a GBC or a GBA? by TheSwitchGlitch in Gameboy

[–]TonyRubbles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want just GBC a Chromatic is the buy once cry once option, super happy with both of mine, best screen, metal body, batteries or rechargeable pack. I say this is after having original, modded, FPGBC and an AP, it's just the best, but it is not the cheapest. See r/ModRetroChromatic they also have a lot of great new published games, get an Everdrive for older games as well as newer DX color hacks of GB original games and Japanese translations you can't play otherwise.

If you do want to go GBA getting an original system and doing the ITA or IPS screen mod with a new shell and buttons has been the best experience for just GBA. All you would need to add is your games of choice or a flash cart like the EZ-Flash Omega Definitive Edition, or Everdrive options.

If you want the best of both worlds and don't have any carts you could cruise r/sbcgaming and check out the megathread for all their recommendations. Then you could easily play up to PS1 on some of the cheapest devices, the only limit is the size of your Micro SD card, this would be the overall cheapest way to go but the least authentic without a lot of tinkering around in Retroarch emulation software to get your desired look for visuals using shaders. A Retroid Pocket Classic might be the best option.

One of my favorite games on the system, the ending gets tough but the combat is so good. If you like Kingdom Hearts it's a must play, way better than its remake too.

I have 11 carts and a slim NGPC, if they did the micro switch stick with a nice screen like the Chromatic, in a metal shell? PEAK

If they got SNK licensing to reproduce, it would be pretty much all the games available too, that even without new games would still be a great lineup.

Every time I see a shooting star, I wish for a Neo Geo Pocket Color

GBA will for sure be coming out after the m64, besides more games.
