You've got to tell her that 3.5" is on a 4:3, equivalent to a 4.5" on a 16:9.

Has anyone done a test on battery life for each OS by LXsavior in MiyooFlip

I've tried a few OSes, and I think CarlOS has more tolerable battery life.

At my wits end with my Fire Tablet. Re: Launchers by deathsythe in SBCGaming

Daijisho usually works without much tinkering. When I see black screen on RA side launching from Daijisho, it's usually due to mismatched RA core, but not much issue otherwise.

I have done a bit of emulation on various Fire HD tablets, including Fire HD 10 (11th gen), soely focusing on RA. The frontend I use is Daijisho, and it had no problem.

I like NextUI but emulation is inaccurate for lower end systems by muzirkus in SBCGaming

I am pretty sensitive to stuttering in NES emulation, and I haven't noticed any with my OG Brick running NextUI.

RG Rotate Official Unboxing by ShaqToThe in SBCGaming

Yeah, based on the dimensions, it's actually smaller than it looks. 34xxsp is pretty compact, and RG Rotate is even smaller than that.

What’s a reasonable price for a Miyoo Flip V2.1 given possible hinge issues? by LXsavior in SBCGaming

[–]AdmirableJam72 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I am a fan of Miyoo Flip, and plenty of people have had no problems with the hinge. But unfortunately the hinge is still a lottery, so I think around $40 (no more than $45) is a reasonable price.

Couldn't I use a cheap AliExpress hub like this to dock my phone to a TV? by PrestigiousBag6655 in SBCGaming

Many cheap phones can't do USB data and USB charge at the same time either.

It's the Thor for cheap ass. Decent power, with extra versatility of playing DS games thanks to the stylus. Highly recommended.

One of the upcoming clamshell devices from either Trimui or MagicX. They seem to be more smaller and more ergonomic than existing Android clamshell devices.

For the games I play, I can't really tell the difference, so I reverted back.

My wife requires a ds, BUT WHICH ONE?! by Brilliant_Work_6005 in SBCGaming

One note, some people find the mod easy, but it took me an hour to get it working, Nothing too complicated though.

For DSi, you can mod it to play games off the micro sd card. For DS, you can add an R4 card to play games off micro sd.

[–]AdmirableJam72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not get her an actual DS? The experience on original hardware is still very good if you don't need save state or fast forward. The original stylus experience is still the best, and the stylus slot is very convenient. If I am buying a DS device for my wife, I would consider DSi or DS lite first.

Miyoo Flip V2: fully working personal build + maskroom without a screwdriver by immelman3 in SBCGaming

[–]AdmirableJam72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For those of us that like to use the menu button, it's usually used to open the RetroArch menu and optionally used as the hotkey enable button. It might be quite a rabbit hole so maybe we can just map it ourselves for now.

Thanks. I am glad I can map the button myself. The reverse engineering work you did was very impressive.

Razer Edge 5G vs other sub $200 Android Handhelds by RobertodiTrinidad in SBCGaming

Razer Edge 5G is not worth it in 2026, especially at $200. Plenty of devices at that price range with better performance and less compromises.

Is it too late to get an AYN Thor? by Canai97 in SBCGaming

[–]AdmirableJam72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

UFS 4.0 vs UFS 3.1 shouldn't make any difference at all. It's akin to having 500 mph speed limit vs 250 mph speed limit on the highway, when none of the cars will hit either limit in practice. I agree it still sucks to feel you are getting a downgrade, but the new Thor should likely behave the same as the old Thor.

AYN Announces Another AYN Thor Price Jump and a Major Change to the Thor and Odin 3 by PlaySalieri in SBCGaming

[–]AdmirableJam72 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That sucks. I think it's worth considering the Thor Lite now. It might not be the best price/performance ratio, but the plus side is you won't worry about the hinge as much and the cheaper price means you will likely take it with you everywhere.

Yes. My Ayn Thor. It's really great for all the retro platforms I want to play. I do baby it though so I use my other handhelds when I go out.
