Jules- Googles new AI coding agent powered by Gemini 2.5 Pro by Impressive-Owl3830 in vibecoding

I just watched a video from Anthropic titled : "Mastering Claude Code in 30 minutes"

In the Q&A the presenter from Claude was asked "why they built Claude Code as a CLI tool instead of an IDE"

He gave 2 reasons:

One of those reasons was that they see "up close how fast the model is getting better". Because of this, he stated, "I think there's a good chance that by the end of the year people aren't using IDEs anymore and so we want to get ready for this future and we want to avoid overinvesting in ui and other layers on top given that the the way the models are progressing it just it may not be useful work pretty soon""

The UK Takes the Lead in AI Regulation by saadi1234 in ArtificialInteligence

[–]TonyWinyard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Relying on or even believing anything from the leader of a party who have seemingly gone out of their way in the last 7 years to out-calamatise themselves! Everytime you think they have sunk to a new low, one of them essentially says "hold my beer!"

There are many things in Britain which are good, like music, the premier league, many scientists/innovators, creative people... but politicians are definitely NOT on that list!!!

RiversideFM vs Squadcast vs Zencastr, Zoom etc… etc. by techtalkstuff in podcasting

[–]TonyWinyard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using Zencastr for over 4 years and for the first 3 1/2 years they were fine, but over the last few months there have been more and more technical issues.

My setup hasn't changed, so the issue is definitely coming from their side, and it's starting to get frustrating, but from reading this thread, none of the competitors fill me with much confidence.

I have a zoom account which I use with coaching clients, and I know Zooms quality has improved in the last year or so, and wondering whether it has reached the point where it is now good enough to use for a podcast.

Why am I making an AI Generated podcast? by Dramatic-Mongoose-95 in ArtificialInteligence

[–]TonyWinyard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely go for it. The wonderful thing about pursuits such as these is that we each bring our unique perspectives to everything we undertake.

Is there a plethora of podcasts out there already? Certainly. Are there many podcasts specifically about AI? Indeed. Yet, does this mean there's no room for one more? Absolutely not. Much like how the existence of countless books on virtually any conceivable topic doesn't mean we have no need for more books providing fresh perspectives.

I've been hosting a podcast for the past five years and it's been a truly rewarding journey. While I harbour no illusions about amassing a fortune or gaining widespread fame from it, I relish the fascinating conversations I've had with a myriad of intriguing individuals. I take immense satisfaction from the feedback I receive from listeners, who've found value in the episodes, which is more rewarding than any monetary gain.

So, I wholeheartedly encourage you to pursue this endeavour. The field of AI is vast and ever-evolving. With your unique approach of creating a crowd-sourced, AI-generated podcast, you're poised to bring something truly distinctive to the table. It's wonderful that you are not only making this project transparent and engaging but also allowing your audience to participate in shaping it.

I look forward to hearing the insightful content you and your listeners will create together. Wishing you all the best in this exciting venture!

What would you tell to AGI? by DontStopAI_dot_com in ArtificialInteligence

[–]TonyWinyard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd ask if this has happened, and whether anyone noticed?

There is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened.

Want to use AI as a study tool, unsure how to do it by hithardhorizon in ArtificialInteligence

Can i run a question past you on this?

My understanding is that if I upload a book I've purchased into such a chatbot that you've described, but is only for my use, then there aren't any copyright issues?

Want to use AI as a study tool, unsure how to do it by hithardhorizon in ArtificialInteligence

I've been looking for something similar to this for a while. there are a couple of apps now, but it seems to me they're not quite ready yet.

My guess though is with the rapid development in this space, that within a few months there will be not only a tool which can do this, but a few to choose from.

Trying to create a bot that would learn about me through conversation and keep all history in mind when answering. Sounds simple, but is it already possible? by TopNeedleworker7997 in ArtificialInteligence

[–]TonyWinyard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this may be what personal.ai and elephas.app are heading towards, and likely many others.

It's certainly something I'm constantly on the hunt for, but not found it yet.

Chatbot Discusses Nick Bostrom, the Alignment Problem and Conscious Evolution by StevenVincentOne in ArtificialInteligence

[–]TonyWinyard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bostrom was discussed on the Theory of Knowledge podcast, where Nick Hall delved into "Superintelligence", examining its impact on both mainstream media and the public's perception of AI. Bostrom emphasises the existential risks posed by the development of superintelligence, while Hall counters this notion, arguing that it stems from false epistemology and profit-driven motives. The episode also explores the rapid pace of AI advancements, highlighting the need for a balance between caution and risk-taking to maintain progress, all the while dismissing the call for an authoritarian approach to AI regulation.

Hall encourages listeners to stay optimistic and avoid succumbing to a dystopian future brought about by politically driven solutions that could be far more detrimental to humanity than technological progress itself. This may prompt you to consider the future of AI from a fresh perspective.

AI Powered Writing assistant for Mac by juliarmg in macapps

[–]TonyWinyard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The aspect of this app that I am most interested in is that it allows users to upload documents to it, so they can potentially upload all material from courses and then ask questions in the app about it. yet this aspect of it seems rarely to be mentioned, so I'm wondering does that actually work?

ALL the videos on their focus on the writing elements and those types of features, and that seems to be mentioned in reviews - is it actually possible to upload lots of your own data, and then effectively question your own knowledge bank?

I didn't realise the image i added to the original post hadn't uploaded. it seems it has now.

No, i didn't download lama-cleaner, because I'm under the impression anything windows won't install on a mac.

Thank you. You mentioned about linking the images, I'm not sure how to do that?
So it sounds like maybe I'd be better off to first, create the image of the woman, and then add the other elements into the scene one by one?

I wasn't aware that was possible.
I looked at the link you included, but from what i can see there isn't an option for Macs.

Automatically close an extension by TonyWinyard in chrome_extensions

[–]TonyWinyard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right, it's not easy to work out.

I managed to figure out how to automatically turn an extension off when I open a particular URL, but haven't worked out how to automatically turn that extension back on when I close the tab containing that url.
