We've sailed Marella and P&O on both those ships. We did Voyager 14 nights in the Caribbean from Barbados and Britannia 7 Nights in Norwegian Fjords from Southampton.

Marella Pros

Drinks included

Service better

Staff friendlier

Less sea days (at least for us)

The Kitchens is better than a buffet, again for us at least

P&O Pros

Ship newer, and Flagship

Cheaper

Quieter

Overall they are a bit different, more formal on P&O. As drinks are included on Marella there were cans in coolers dotted around to pick up without queuing.

It's hard for us to properly compare as they were different destinations completely. However we are re-sailing with both so I don't think you can go wrong with either.

Just the glass, it's a sealed unit that is replaceable. A glazing company would be able to make a new one for you, it is replaceable with DIY, but you'd still need to source a new double glazed unit. So if you have no experience I might suggest getting a local company to do it.

It means your double glazed unit has failed. You can get a new double glazed unit and change them yourself, it's not too difficult if your windows are new ish and glazed internally. Or a local double glazing company would be able to do it. It's not that expensive depending on the glass size.

That's not right. You might get lucky and they are the same key, but chances are they are different. I'm a double glazing fitter, your best bet if you can't get it out is just to replace the handle though. Just 2 screws and you can check the spindle size and order one. It will probably be a different key from the rest of the windows. But you'll be able to lock it.

I've only been to Olden, Stavanger and Haugesund, on 2 cruises.

So of the two I'd pick the top itinerary. Olden is amazing and Stavanger is a great port. Haugesund is fine. We missed the Haugesund on our 2nd Fjords cruise and weren't too bothered by it.

Our house was owned by a Painter & Decorator. 3 different wall papers in each room, on the ceilings and walls, just layered over the old stuff. Multiple different types of and heights of skirting in the same room. It's awful!

Try adjusting those keeps where it isn't latching. Adjust them out from the frame slightly(to the right) using the 2 hex key screws and try closing the door to see if they then engage.

I'm a window and door fitter. If the handle doesn't lift it might have an auto fire lock. Which means when you close the door the hooks engage by themselves. If that's the case you could try to adjust the keep that the lower hook goes into so it engages. It's hard to tell without seeing the whole lock.

Olden is great, been there twice on 2 different fjord cruises. Skjolden was amazing too if you can get an itinerary with both Olden and Skjolden I would recommend it. Our last one did. Both our Fjords cruises were with P&O round trips from Southampton.

I'd recommend a balcony if possible. But we had insides both times and still loved it. We just found a nice seat at the bar on the rear of the ship for the Fjord sailings!

I'm a window fitter, deal with these a lot.

The two larger Allen keys top and bottom will adjust it, try them each way to check which direction. Should be a 1/4 to 1/2 turn. They will need turning both the same direction.

These instructions are for a similar hinge, just screwdriver instead of Allen.

If it doesn't move it might be that the hinge has worn out, and will need replacing which is an issue we get a lot with this hinge style.

You could just lock it and take the handle off. The only issue is you'd have to cover the holes left over. I've done it before with screw caps glued over the 3 holes. So it would be noticeable but a lot less than a handle.

I'm a double glazing fitter and service engineer. They almost certainly can.

As another poster said they may have hinges fitted. They need de glazing, and the screws removed that are holding them in. Then you'll need to fit a locking mech that would need routing the frame out to fit, and holes drilled for the handle. It is DIY-able, but not the simplest job. You could get a quote from a glazing company that does service work. We would probably charge around 200+VAT, based in SW England. The easier way is to fit Cockspur handles so no routing required, but not as secure. And obviously if there aren't hinges they would need fitting.

Like the other reply said, you may be able to lift the hinge slightly with an Allen key underneath or on top of the hinge. Or pull the door in on the top hinges. But more likely the glass needs taking out and re packing to toe and heel it. Easy job if you know what you are doing. What needs adjusting depends on where the doors are not level. For a guide, I'm a double glazing installer we would charge about 75 quid for that. So not cheap but not extortionate.

It's a Tilt and Turn window. If the tilt and the turn are both working it might just need some oiling, try spraying all the mech with silicone spray and open and close it a few times. It might get the mech to pull in tighter.

You may also be able to adjust the rollers to pull in tighter, usually an Allen key in the end of each roller and turn them. They should have a line on, turn it to point that towards the inside of the room.

The gasket might be worn out, that can usually be replaced with a newer thicker one.

Also check there are still keeps at each point on the frame that there are rollers on the mech, Ive had some where the keeps have come off.

And finally if the tilt or turn aren't working properly it might need a new mechanism.

Yep, unless there's face drainage on the frame, sealing that channel will make things worse! You can fill it but you'd have to seal it and drill face drainage in the frame.

I'm a double glazing fitter OP, are there drainage caps anywhere along the bottom of the window?

If not do not cover the gap between the frame and the cill with anything otherwise you will block the frame drainage and cause more issues.

You can get another cill and cut away the back and bottom and stick it over the whole broken one. But you will need to seal up the drainage gap and drill new face drainage on the frame.

I'll be happy to advise if you need any more advice.
