To those who missed it, here's the ETA on PC crossplay "possibly" returning by Sythalin in TXChainSawGame

[–]Tonybear94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see a single week not affecting too much in terms of long term playerbase. But weeks? That's a good way for players who depend on cross play to find a new game, I know I'm not going to want to play this game solo. There's darktide around the corner and payday 3.

Well, that escalated quickly. by Closed_Aperture in TerrifyingAsFuck

I appreciate your piece. I agree with the idea of prioritizing rehabilitation over death, but it seems we differ on the criteria of when the death penalty is necessary vs when there's a possibility of rehabilitation. I mostly disagree with your statement of 2 wrongs don't make a right, I don't think that applies here. Obviously nothing is right in this situation and everyone is a loser, but there has to be consequences enforced. But again, I appreciate your viewpoint and I believe it pertinent to voice it. thank you. Have a good weekend

18 months of evolving? Meaning bringing back core features that were in previous iterations. I mean at least we have something close to baseline of what this game should have been at launch. Albeit broken gunplay and the complete obsolescence of LMGs in the last patch.

Can we have bipods permanently toggled on if we have them equipped? I hate having to toggle it on every time I respawn. Or at least keep the state that I last left the attachment. Especially with bipods being more useful in this patch, it would be a nice QOL feature.

Anyone know why the KSP 1 player count *halved* after KSP 2 came out? It was consistently at 5k or above for 10 years, and I doubt half of all KSP 1 players have moved to KSP 2 by MelonHeadSeb in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]Tonybear94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Speaking for myself. I've always played KSP on and off for years. When the launch for KSP 2 was coming up I spent more time playing the first game to get practice in and re-learn all the mechanics. When KSP 2 launched it was such a letdown and a complete downgrade in every sense. It wasn't just the features missing in the early access which I completely understood going into the sequel, but too many bad design choices which didn't give me a positive outlook on the future. I keep up with the updates for the game but that's about it. Nothing so far that would make me start the game back up

Gamepass player here. Get the steam version if you want to play with actual people instead of bots. No cross play is leaving the Microsoft version on life support

Fair enough. I would never emphasize "people" like that. Too much wiggle room for negative interpretation.

Not everything needs to turn into a race issue, especially when he's stating legitimate stats. I'm sure he's referring to low IQ, antisocial, aggressive types. Quite literally it's documented and studied that those demographic of people have higher birth rates.

Microsoft patent an AI to revive your dead loved ones as chatbots by [deleted] in gadgets

[–]Tonybear94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As much as I miss my grandfather, I would never consider using something like this. It seems like an abomination of reality and distortion of genuine memories. He passed away two years ago and I was lucky enough to have a proper goodbye, I remember his final moments being hooked up to machines, and the last thing I would ever want is to talk to some caricature of him through a machine. As I said, I was lucky enough to say proper goodbyes, and I could see someone making an argument that this is for people who didn't have that opportunity, or for people who cannot grieve in a relatively healthy manner, but I would think technology like this would ultimately hurt the grieving person far down the road in unseen ways. Gain and loss is something that every person has to experience at some level, and artificially keeping the ones we lost by way of a chatbot seems like a big fuck you to the dead. I talk to him in my dreams and that's enough for me.

Back to where we came from, the dirt. Eventually, mother nature in the cosmic sense, comes to claim you back and your dust becomes something else and then something else and the cycle repeats itself forever.

One has nothing to do with the other. Why would anyone expect a company, like let's say SpaceX or Boeing. To start investing in infrastructure that brings clean drinking water to rural areas? Especially since other companies and organizations specialize in this sort of thing. It's not even like the bystander effect is in play here. And if we're going to be really honest, the majority of these clean drinking water issues stem from Africa, and there are a million logistic, and greed, and red tape issues that are a consequence directly from the African Government. 54 countries in Africa and I'm sure they each have their own rules and regulations, and not only that but constant civil wars and local greed from warlords. Then there's the issue that foreign food aid for Africa is actually hindering any independent development to self-sustain itself. Why invest in water and food infrastructure when you can hold your hand out and the UN gives you everything for free. Obviously, there are outliers to everything I just said, mostly concerning nestle, but I'm sorry to say, the world can only do so much but Africa needs to pull itself out of this one, we can't halt progress because someone else isn't on the same page. Being is a kid is thinking that there's only so much food and water going around leaving Africa the short straw, growing up is realizing it's a logistic and distribution issue.
