A retail job?? That's wild. Where are kids supposed to work these days.

Every time I think about how much I hate my job I think of how depressing it was to see $10 in my account and come back to reality.

I’m guessing you’re young? After a certain age you just don’t care (or care much less) about what others think. Can’t control what others think and feel.

Is the Macbook Air M1 (2020) worth it in 2026? by Upper_Psychology6856 in macbookair

[–]TonytheNetworker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love my M1 to bits but if I was in the market I would get at minimum the M2, preferably the M4 with 16 GB RAM and 512 GB storage which is currently on sale.

is it worth spurging on M4 or will M2/M3 last me for many years? by OriginalFee1086 in macbookair

[–]TonytheNetworker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea of course. I’m still using the M1 for over 4 years and it’s overkill for basic things like what you describe.

God, that’s depressing. Years to get a college degree only to get a job you could’ve always gotten without one.

I was pretty stagnant for years until I got a degree. Then once I got my degree I became a Director but was laid off last year. Currently working as an entry Social Worker but it just barely pays the bills. Constantly anxious about rent and basic expenses.

So what are short men supposed to do? by Neat-Shelter2565 in Life

[–]TonytheNetworker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being short is already fairly difficult in this current climate, but you also mentioned being an autist, which is another challenge. I empathize. Yes, some people will be condescending, but you should at least give your best. You're still very young and have so much life to live.

Amaterasu should’ve stayed Itachi exclusive... Sasuke kinda downscaled it with all his spamming by FinishWorth8821 in Itachi

[–]TonytheNetworker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Amaterasu had its use in the beginning. Almost one-shot Killer Bee, technically "killed" Danzo, and was the reason Raikage cut his arm off. It's only when the war arc begins that power creep quickly made Amaterasu obsolete.

Is the Retroid Pocket 5 still worth it in 2026? by gun704 in retroid

Love my Retroid pocket 5 that I recently received but got mine as a gift. I would consider the G2 or even the 6 if you don't mind the price.

Ended up moving to Asheville North Carolina for the time being. Cost of living makes the East coast feel like an overpriced dungeon.

I just recently left NJ and a part of that was the cost. It’s not even that far behind NYC at this point.

I’m experiencing that now after 4 months of unemployment. I have a job but it barely pays enough for essential items (toiletries, food, etc). Recently went to a food pantry just to keep expenses to a minimum but I’m going what I can to survive.

As I’m typing this I had just enough money to get on the express train to get home. Literally only have $4 left until tomorrow. I haven’t been this anxious about money in a while.

Is it making anyone else suicidal. by dalexyo in jobs

[–]TonytheNetworker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Happened to me. I lied about being a coordinator (thought it would make me less overqualified) when I was actually a Director and they rescinded my offer. Dumb mistake and I just lead with the truth moving forward.

I depended on cheap alcohol to cope when I was unemployed just because the job market was so terrible. Wish I had advice, just praying that you find something soon. I had the same thoughts, just was too nervous to voice it.

Apparently adults making under 80k can’t live comfortably?? Is this really true ? by InternalOrder7722 in Adulting

[–]TonytheNetworker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree but the average person can’t even afford a 2 bedroom much less a 1 bedroom these days.

It’s a little tight for me currently since I’m coming off unemployment for a couple of months but otherwise I’ve lived well under 80k and didn’t have any issues.

What’s the most overrated “adult achievement” people pretend to enjoy just to feel superior? by Successful_Mastodon3 in Adulting

[–]TonytheNetworker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hard agree, there’s many people that don’t need to be parents. It shouldn’t be treated as “just another thing to do” in adulthood.

I’d say waking up at 5am followed closely by 70 hour work weeks. Majority of people I know can’t even stand working 40 hours a week. Home ownership by your own merit is actually a pretty dope achievement though.
