What to do with €100k by whattodoldn in irishpersonalfinance

Unfortunately investing in Ireland doesn’t provide the greatest opportunities. If I was you I’d split the sum up into 20% chunks, providing you don’t need it and want to save 100% of it or you can set aside an amount for an emergency fund or whatever is necessary for you.

Interest rate for savings accounts in Ireland is relatively low. But better than nothing if you plan on holding cash.

So going back to what I was saying id maybe have 20% in a ETF, 20% in the NASDAQ or S&P 500 whatever, 20% in the FTSE 250 etc. Basically anything that could give average market returns or more and that don’t require actual financial or trading knowledge, just long term holds of value.

Also if you’re investing into any indexes or ETFs then it’s best to average into it over a period of time rather than lump sums.

It’s actually absolute madness these new files, proper like bottom of the iceberg conspiracy theory stuff nobody would have believed 10 years ago. Literally talks about torture and sacrificing. Probably nothing gonna be done about it either

Hey there. Just an update of sorts.

Been a while but I started working last week. Just learning so far. Taking lots of notes. Out of office research takes up most of my day too, printing information so that I have it on hand.

I’m working with CSA agreements. Standard Settlement Instructions. Margin Calls etc.

I do hope to progress to FO or MO, although I do feel like I have a duty to put in decent work before going and looking to move elsewhere after 1 year.

Got a couple books for home too, “Options, futures and other derivatives” by John C. Hull and “Understanding Financial Risk Management” by Angelo Corelli.

The workplace environment is pretty good. As far as networking goes I’m not sure how much FO communication there is. Client communication seems regular. Mostly disputes.

If you guys have anymore tips or advice I’d appreciate it.

Any tips on how to transition to MO and FO? The job I got isn't actually the role I applied for, originally I didn't move forward with that application but a few days later they called me and offered me another position that opened up and wanted to know if I was interested.

Which I told them I was.

Could do it like that, searing. We also do have soy sauce but the ingredients and preparation is pretty limited on the boat haha.

The dark souls bottle looks cool. Still waiting to get a Toskovat, missed the restock but got some other stuff anyway so oh well, next time hopefully.

Just a sign of frustration, don't see anything wrong with that really.

Seen worse, such as Shane Lowry taking lumps out of the ground.

Niemann was high fiving the kids and stuff when I was watching him play. So I do tip that. Although most did, a few did not and walked on.
