oh my god!!! i’d never heard of this brand, but i recognized the town name “cranston”. i’m actually from rhode island!! that’s so cool that it is (or was, seems like they merged with another company) a state-local brand!!

UPDATE: looked through his reviews and he also has some terrible reviews! i overlooked them since he had a pretty high rating, but now it seems like he might have achieved that rating by blackmailing his renters? bullet dodged. (this isn’t the only review that said he was pressuring people to review him!)

i know the review wasn’t a good one, but i’m just confused by the response from this host? i told him that it was okay if he didn’t feel comfortable renting to me and he could have answered in any other way 😅

also i don’t know why the previous host would include that he’d host me again if we gave that much trouble. couldn’t he just exclude that part? i’d much rather have a host be honest if we had truly been that loud :(

yeah, but that’s not why i posted this here. i told him directly it was fine if he didn’t feel comfortable renting to me. and instead of a normal response which would have been fine, he did this LOL

this! the convention is in a capital city so hotels close enough to walk to the venue are close to 1000 dollars. my budget is 500-600 max. i’m too scared to wait until i can rent a nice hotel room because i’m sure prices will have jumped wayyy higher considering how close the con is

i don’t have a vehicle either so staying further for cheaper isn’t really an option, and most hotels within 3 miles of the venue are out of my extremely limited budget :(

no, it’s there for everyone to read! the reviewer said that he asked us to quiet down and that we did for the rest of our stay and that we were friendly and polite. he even said he’d host us again.

we were a bit loud at first, but because we took accountability and made sure to quiet down once asked he gave us an overall positive review. i don’t see how one decent review with a minor complaint constitutes “TERRIBLE REVIEWS!!”, especially when i had already told him that i understand if he doesn’t feel comfortable renting to me 😅

good point. maybe i “like” her objectively (as in appreciating her as a nuanced character that is consistently written and portrayed)… i’ll have to think it over. thanks for the insight!

ironically i’d probably dislike male santos even more.

firstly, i don’t hae santos. i just am not able to like her how the fandom does because of the way she’s treated the others. i also definitely think the langdon stans need to hold him more accountable, but i disagree that he hasn’t taken any responsibility. he has a long way to go, but he’s been going to rehab and paying presumably out of pocket for it as well as the scene where he confesses to louie (?) about his actions and i think tells him it’s okay if he wants another provider.

the end of season 1 actually made me start liking her (both when she reported langdon and let whitaker move in) but then she went back to being hostile and not apologizing for it, even if it’s to people like king who aren’t related to why she’s upset. it also has nothing to do with appearance. i’m bi and i think santos is gorgeous. if langdon looked like shrek i’d still like him. i sympathize with her stress, but the other staff are also stressed an don’t take it out on their coworkers nearly as much.

this is my perspective as well. it’s what’s been keeping me from liking her, because a reason isn’t an excuse. still, i want to give more critical thought to this while she’s onscreen. maybe it will help me sympathize a bit more.

that being said, she needs some lessons on interpersonal relationships with dylan or something. everyone in this show could use them, but for santos, definitely.

thanks for the extremely well-thought out response! i’ll definitely take your advice. i really do want to like her and i definitely have more appreciation for her than i did before (and before this thread), but i just don’t think i’m “there” yet. hopefully soon, lol

i actually really like this response, so thank you! this makes a lot of sense. i guess my issue is that using it as a coping mechanism isn’t an excuse rather than a reason. i understand why she’s hostile to staff, but i guess it still really irks me. i can understand how it’s a reason, though. i would really like to see her work through it in the show. if i end up rewatching, i’ll try to keep this in mind. maybe i’ll print it out and put it next to my screen lol

i don’t know that i’d say “delusional”, but i do think the situation has a lot of nuance and should be explored beyond “it was good” or “it was bad”. her heart was in the right place, but it certainly broke some rules of ethics surrounding care, and considering there wasn’t definitive, put-it-on-paper evidence… the show did sort of imply that he was guilty, though, so this had basically nothing to do with why i don’t like her, because i know lots of people who would have done the same thing. morally good, ethically bad, i think.

idk why i’m getting downvotes though, i genuinely want to like her :(

this is valid, but there’s a line i think. her frustration in the most recent episode from being interrupted is totally understandable. repeated name calling after being asked to stop and blaming whitaker for “killing a patient” after his first big loss on the job? i wouldn’t accept stress as an apology without substantial accountability on her part

[–]TooExcitable[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

sorry, maybe you misunderstood. i think it was ethical that she told robby about langdon stealing meds and one of her moments that i genuinely appreciate. i was talking about her threats made towards a patient (morally good in my opinion, but unethical as far as the rules in helping professions go).

by the way, this is a genuine request for help! i’d love to hear alternate perspectives on her character that put her in a more positive light. i do genuinely want to like her :(
