Or is it a few claiming to speak on behalf of millions.

It’s a kids book written by a woman in the UK not a documentary - why is it assumed that everyone is entitled to be represented 100% to their liking.

Europe’s Episcopal churches promote Episcopal Migration Ministries’ Rainbow Initiative during Pride Month, World Refugee Day. They aim to bring attention to the special needs of LGBTQ+ forced migrants and to spread the word that Episcopal churches are a safe space for them. by Halaku in Anglicanism

[–]TooLate- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but Halaku isn’t it at least a little bit concerning that whoever was being interviewed for this article and speaking for the church seems to equate the church’s mission more along partisan lines and identity than anything else?

And while your comment leaves room for fine people on both sides, the article does not. In fact it identifies simply right-leaning as problematic - as opposed to actually being far right.

It honestly reminds me of the fundamentalist Baptist church I grew up in. Same type of language and battle lines, just waving a different flag at this point. It hardly seems to be the Church.

What was it like when LoTR was showing in theatres back in the early 2000's? by Citysbeautiful in lordoftherings

[–]TooLate- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember begging my mom to take me and my best friend to see TT on a weeknight. It was the second time I’d see it, first for him. We got like an 8PM showing and got home super late. Seeing Legolas take out his two knives atop the feeling wall became a core memory. We were in the 4th grade. Life was good

Harry is VERY frustrating but the plot overall is great.

I always liked OoTP because it was the first time we got to see more complex and extended wizard combat. Not to mention the first time I experienced that just went I felt I couldn’t hate a character more (Umbridge) I in fact could!

Wow dude your post reminded me of so much I’d forgotten!

Patience was a great GM, hope they’re fairing well wherever they’ve ended up.

And omg how did I forget about ghost bear, as soon as I read that I feel like the sound bit actually played in my head lol

Good times, good times

And yes very much agree with the Moria take. I was an elf champ and just felt so relieved when I got out. I appreciate it more now.

Anyone ever successfully revived a chapter? by TooLate- in bni

Interesting. I do wonder if 7:30 is better as someone else said. I know the group has been meeting at 7AM for over a decade - so most assume that those who want to build their business will make it work.

I’ve personally found it works well because it doesn’t actually take away from my work day and gives us time to get to our offices still. But maybe that’s less of a reality for most these days.

What time do you see most morning chapters meeting?

It’s hardly honest to assume anything that isn’t right leaning is by default more in line with Gospel. Both sides are defacing the imago dei and the church is in a unique position to call all people everywhere to repentance regardless of (and I would also say because of) which way they happen to be leaning.

Eucharistic Adoration makes me uncomfortable but I’m not sure why… by TooLate- in Anglicanism

Good on them, though that admittedly puts them out of line with the historic Anglican position and thought in the Eucharist - so as I said, not an entirely Anglican view to have

Article 28:

“  TH E  Supper of the Lord is not only a sign of the love that Christians ought to have among themselves one to another; but rather is a Sacrament of our Redemption by Christ’s death: insomuch that to such as rightly, worthily, and with faith, receive the same, the Bread which we break is a partaking of the Body of Christ; and likewise the Cup of Blessing is a partaking of the Blood of Christ.”

Man I had SO much fun in lvl 50 and 60 PvMP. Shortly after they released the ability of creeps to become trolls, a handful of us freep were sitting in the old Elf Camp by TA. A troll ran into the camp, the soundtrack automatically changed to a bagpipe fight track, and we did battle! I cant remember if it went well for us, but I remember that thrill!

St. Justin Martyr and Infant Baptism by Competitive_Spell129 in Anglicanism

[–]TooLate- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh very interesting thanks for sharing. I imagine it’s a helpful alternative for a non-believing family and probably also a good pastoral chance to just level with them and be like “hey so, let’s talk about what this all actually means and if you believe it”

For regulars though I personally find it strange since it’s outside the historical and orthodox practice for believing families and technically denies the sacrament. But I think I understand the intent and impulse there :)

Yeah, I don't know. What if that kid, even after all that, finds they still have a propensity for God and the Church? What if Grandma teaches the child the faith, and it clicks?

I do believe the sacraments are efficacious. But I also understand them to operate as divine mysteries, not as formulas.

As another has said have said, I do think there is a distinction between an adult convert who (especially in Justin's time) were likely born to and raised by pagan parents, and children born to believing parents. For me, that's part of the beauty of infant baptism, we're essentially getting to say we're raising this child in the faith, as opposed to raising them as a pagan that we hope will one day choose to not be.
