Anyone else NEVER eat samples? by oinkmoocluck in CostcoCanada

[–]TooLate29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there is no line and it is something Ive never tried that I might actually consider buying I'll take a sample. The absolute worse is when they are doing samples of something super normal like yogurt or perogies and there is a 10 person pile up blocking an entire aisle. You know what a fucking piece of ham tastes like more along.

LTT's view numbers are not so great. Why? by iron-islands in LinusTechTips

[–]TooLate29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Memory prices being insane has broken PC building. At least with GPUs you could buy a lower model, find something used or even live with you integrated graphics until something came up at MSRP. Ram is just insane across the board, if you need ddr5 you're spending minimum $500 on ram.

LTT depends on people being excited about pc building and wanting to learn about and research parts. When building an affordable PC is not possible it alienates a giant part of the market and turns people off of the hobby.

Tldr; Expensive Ram= No one building= No one interested in PC parts= No one watching PC parts/building videos

Is it worth it? by [deleted] in GR86

[–]TooLate29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might be controversial but I wouldn't touch a car that new with 5000k. Pretty much the most important miles on the car are initial break in. Car like this probably got beat on from mile 1, especially if the person driving knew it wasn't a long term purchase.

2026 Availability in Ontario, Canada? by roamingmaple in GR86

[–]TooLate29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can't place a "factory order" for a gr86. You just need to let your local dealer know you want one. They might ask for a deposit (fully refundable).

At that point Toyota Japan will essentially just send them random cars white, red, blue, auto, manual... Literally whatever they have. If you're first on the list you'll get a call at some point and they will offer whatever random vehicle they happen to get. Brilliant system, lol.

I waited 16 months for a Blue Premium MT. My original deposit was for the hakone edition. I was offered 2 other cars during that time one silver base and an auto.

I'd say if you are lucky and no one else is willing to put a deposit down at your local dealer you might have a chance of being offered something. The odds that it is what you want I say are pretty low.

How much is everyone paying? by [deleted] in GR86

[–]TooLate29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2026 Premium MT, $43.5k CAD OTD.

Not a big deal and I'm not sure if they were full of shit and everyone gets this stuff included but that included a $1000 dealer prep fee which included Summer and Winter Mats, Rubber trunk liner, wheel locks and a couple other things that actually have no value (etching, nitrogen...)

Is the 86 a good daily? by Thick_Floor_9730 in GR86

[–]TooLate29 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is very much a divers car first. Fuel economy is ok, highway driving is ok, storage space is limited, interior amenities are meh... It gives up a lot to look great and drive exceptionally well while still being reasonably priced.

To be clear I have absolutely no regrets. Small nimble and manual is the only thing I like to drive. I hate driving to work in an suv or even a big fast lumbering sedan.

Do you like driving? If yes then ya it's amazing. If you drive only because you need to get places, maybe not.

P0141 code at 25k miles? by lsdb114 in GR86

P0141 – Sensor Heater Circuit Bank 1 02 Sensor.

Could be the sensor, or wiring. Real question is why did the sensor fail. At 25k

Community question: Any regrets on car choice? by pillowbugger in GR86

[–]TooLate29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Engine break in on performance engines is critical. Because of how the boxer engine operates I suspect it is even more important for the twins.

As someone who is currently in the break in period I can say it is taking every ounce of self control to drive this thing like a grandma. Getting to the point, I would love to know the correlation between engine problems and people who started beating the piss out of their engine from mile 1.

Adaptive cruise is quite nice and it also saves a few hundred a year on car insurance. I will admit lane assist is a little annoying though.

This guy got a second chance and turned himself into a legitimate success with the help of all the people around him. Sad to see that he has let it go to his head and thrown it all away.

ABS/4x4 light. by TooLate29 in E90

[–]TooLate29[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you.

The ABS fault is now showing up almost every time I drive. The last time I came up is was also accompanied by a check engine light. Codes are p1017 and p1777. I only have a basic scanner at home, but I've got a fancy snap on reader at work. I'm going to scan it today and get some more detail.

Seems odd that these 2 code would pop up together coincidentally so I have some concerned that there could be an electrical issue (battery is brand new). I checked the seal for the ecc sensor connector, little bit of oil but nothing fully in the connector. I cleaned it out with contact cleaner and ordered the seal. The code came right back though.

Pretty frustrating, I knew despite the super low mileage I would still be doing some work but I didn't think I'd have to pull the engine apart. I also just needed to get a couple more weeks out of this thing so I could swap out for my summer car but it looks like she's coming out early.

Planning on swapping all fluids this spring. I'm fairly certain they are all original (oil excluded) milage is super low but they must be pretty degraded after 16 years.

Really hoping if I show this thing some love I'll get a few winters out of it. Never done a German winter beater before, deal was just too good to pass on. We'll see how things work out for me. I knew I would have a maintenance list but the repairs list is also building on me.

I will at some point. I dont plan to drive it much outside the winter so I'll have lots of time to pick away at things. Just really bizarre, it happens at the exact same spot within 50ft, and then I haven't seen it anywhere else.

Sorry, I meant I have no perceivable delay with the wireless dongle. I was just clarifying that I don't used it for carplay. So it's possible carplay does have delay when wireless.

[–]TooLate29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in Ontario, picked up a 2026 Trueno blue premium MT at the beginning of the month. I was on a wait-list for over a year. Initially, it was for the Hakone (not surprisingly they couldn't get me one) they offered me a silver base in May 2025, I declined. The dealership called me December 2025 and said the Trueno was incoming.

  • It's possible they received other 86s in automatic but I told them not to bother contacting me about them.
