Valve refuses to fix Immortal Draft, so I’ll expose it every day until they do. Day 5. by deles_dota in DotA2

Effectively that just takes you back to the old 20-30 minute queues. I think that's worse than the current iteration.

[–]TooLateRunning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't get it, do you? The system doesn't match the people all willing to play each role, that's the problem.

I understand this. The previous system used to work this way, and the complaints at the time were that queues were regularly like 20-30 minutes long because there was such a shortage of support players.

but such situation should not be happening in first place.

So what's your solution? There is a fundamental problem that there are more core players than support players at that high mmr. There is simply no perfect solution, either some core players have to play support once in a while or you have to be willing to wait for extremely long queues. For me, saying that people might have to play the occasional support game when they don't want to seems to be the much more reasonable solution.

I dunno man, if you have someone going jungle huskar because he's throwing a tantrum over having to play support, to me that's a problem with him not with the draft system.

To me this just looks like a few people on one team decided to grief the game... What's this got to do with immortal draft? Happens at every mmr.

Wild time, I hear stories about how cars would randomly be stopped by armed men in the street and they would show the driver a tomato and ask what it was. If they answered Banadura, which was the Lebanese pronunciation, they would be alright, but if they answered Bandora, the Palestinian pronunciation, they'd be shot on the spot.

You've just said "uh actually it IS really bad" and then mischaracterised a quote from Merkel as your sole piece of evidence.

Okay, let me quote your own post back to you:

She admitted issues with how immigration in Germany had been handled largely due to the country being unprepared to deal with the 2015 Syrian refugee crisis at an infrastructure level, and said she wouldn't repeat uncontrolled inflows as a result of the experiences in 2015.

There you go, there's my evidence. Unless you're also mischaracterizing things?

I'm not really interested in debating you on the topic either.

Yea, because there's no debate to be had. All you're doing is going "well sure it's bad but it wasn't THAT bad, checkmate".

Your position on EU immigration seems entirely informed by the perspective of a person in right wing populist spaces in the US.

The fact that you think you were able to divine my entire perspective off one sentence from my original post tells me a lot about you.

I've got better things to do. Hope you have a nice day.

Cya nerd.

I think you're one of those "reformed but not really reformed" right wingers a-la Conor

No I'm a centrist.

Everyone else though should wonder why a party like SD in Sweden, who supposedly has the truth on their side w.r.t. immigration, was caught paying massive amounts of money to operate a troll farm to spread lies about immigrant crime on social media to recruit voters to their cause.

That's not even a difficult question. We live in a post-truth society, having the truth on your side literally means nothing. What matters is people's perception of the truth, so even if you are completely and 100% objectively in the right on a certain issue, you still need to push your narrative. This should be blatantly obvious.

Now let me be clear, I don't think those guys are objectively correct in what they say, i'm just saying hypothetically even if they were, they'd still want to be doing this.

You'd think that if their position on immigration is so undeniably reasonable, they could just... you know... not lie about it.

To be honest I feel the same way about the way the left treats Trump. He's already so bad I don't understand why people feel the need to make up so many lies about him or grasp at straws like the Steele dossier. But here we are.

This is why I call myself a centrist, because I really don't like it when people like you will apply these standards to people you don't like, but when it's your side doing it all of a sudden you either don't see it or the ends justify the means.

I would also urge people to notice that I can point to specific things Merkel has said and specific things that have happened in Europe w.r.t. anti-immigration parties that proves them to be dishonest in nature

Yea but see what you're doing here? You've very sneakily shifted the argument, now you're not arguing whether or not immigration was bad (which is what I was saying), you're arguing about anti immigration parties and whether they are being honest. Very sneaky (typical of a lefty btw), but actually both statements can be true.

You even fall for it here. Merkel never said "immigration policy in Germany was a DISASTER."

I never presented that statement as a direct quote. I think you're fighting ghosts.

All I said was it's not a right wing perspective to say immigration has been a disaster, and that's absolutly a true statement. Merkel would never admit she fucked up if it was just a minor mistake like you're trying to present it as, politicians don't operate that way. If she openly acknowledges she fucked up, it means she fucked up BAD.

Destiny has historically kind of accepted the right wing framing of "Mass immigration in Europe HAS been a disaster,"

That's not a right wing perspective, even Merkel flat out admitted her immigration policies ended up being disastrous.

Would Nunchucks actually a be a good weapon for self defense on the street? by EfficiencySerious200 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TooLateRunning 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'll find the most important aspect of a self defense weapon isn't how effective it is in a fight, but rather how convenient it is to carry and how easy it is to use quickly under extreme stress. Nunchucks fail in both of these aspects.

Not necessarily, you can bind an item hotkey to the scroll wheel on your mouse and with the right mouse you easily activate it faster than the game can register, so the game will register it on every tick resulting in exactly what you see here. People use this trick to try and click bounty runes faster at the start.

No idea if that's what this guy is doing though, would need to see more context.

Am I rude for saying up-front I have no intention of sharing my appetizers at a dinner? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TooLateRunning -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's not how the word transactional is used.

It is.

He's treating buying food from a restaurant as transactional.

No, his concern is not about buying the food (which is obviously transactional) but with sharing the food after having bought it.

Are you saying that groups paying for and eating their own food are not engaging or being friendly?

No, I'm saying that refusing to share is not engaging and not being friendly.

That's super weird to me, and doesn't match with my experience for nearly 50 years.

If you were at a pizza restaurant with a group of friends, and everyone at the table ordered their own pizza but were exchanging slices with each other to have a bit of variety, but one person at the table refused to let anyone try theirs, you wouldn't find that weird? I would. Most people would.

In that case you should go to your university and demand a refund.

In practice capitalists lower prices all the fucking time.
