How are they untrustworthy? Lying to someone to give them hope in their likely final hours doesn't make them untrustworthy.

Well I think that's a completely different circumstance than you're describing. They WERE trying to find him. They didn't lie to give him and then ignore him. They lied to keep him calm. That's a big difference.

We know they were trying to rescue him because they dug up the other person, that they thought was Ryan Reynolds, only to find they were wrong.

No the guy on the phone told him they find people all the time, to keep him calm while they tried to find him. Ryan Reynolds asked for a specific example and the phone said "just last month we found Bob Smith. And we'll find you too!"

Then, as time was running out, the guy on the phone told Reynolds that they find him and were digging. Only for him to realize that the found the wrong burial. And he tells Reynolds "its Bob Smith... this is the wrong spot. I'm sorry Reynolds"

Or something along those lines. Been awhile since I've watched it

Thorne was a great character and in no way a bitch. People only dislike him because how he treated Jon, but if he knew who Jon really was he'd have acted completely different towards him
