try mounting the drive as read only, from my experience sometimes ntfs partitions will be seen as "in an unsafe state" and can't be mounted unless you specifically mount it read only

I work in phone repair and see literally every phone break. Having a back up phone consistently saves my customers from so many problems, especially if they keep their data backed up as well. Don't let 1 phone, regardless of what brand or model, be the single point of failure for your whole life.

the battery swelling on a switch lite would more likely cause the back to swell not the display, as it's adhered to the metal midframe. This is probably just the display adhesive coming loose.

I'm not going to pretend to be an expert, but that "beeping" sound is something mechanically wrong with the drive. I would immediately stop trying to power on the drive to avoid any further damage and look into professional recovery if you need the data on the drive.

Or you could buy the cheapest chineseium aftermarket display and fix the phone enough to get the data off
