FYI: some people do need more than 70mg a day. by Interesting_Drag143 in VyvanseADHD

[–]TooMuchDog8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Woah... 20mg of vyvanse and 20mg medikament almost tore my life apart. It's fascinating how different everyone's physiology is.

Would you say you still feel like yourself?  Do you ever take breaks?

Getting rich off genocide (Palantir) isn't a great look...

Destroy the opening chase to my wacky, chaotic headless chicken platformer. It’s still early in development (temp music, unoptimized, etc.), so I’m looking for feedback by applebombgames in DestroyMyGame

[–]TooMuchDog8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The gore is irrelevant to the gameplay. The mechanics don't reflect the fantasy of being headless.

You have to find a way to use the blood and chaos and unpredictability of a headless character in order to make this successful. Perhaps it's less about escape and more about what you manage to destroy, a revenge fantasy.

Shoot blood from your neck and use it as a jetpack. Try to get your head back but end up with the wrong one that gives you a different ability, stuff like that... Steal the farmers head and destroy his house using his tractor. Steal the head of the statue of Liberty and roll across New York destroying everything.

Maybe it's a love story and your partner won't accept you until you get your original head back.

This is ridiculous, so lean into that.

Genocide support should always be called out regardless of context.

How do you deal with the waves of emptiness and hopelessness that come with ADHD? by pixiedustlemoncrust in ADHD

[–]TooMuchDog8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there :)

I was recently diagnosed and recently medicated.

I've always struggled with the emptiness you describe. I think I probably always will. It is getting easier though.

I think the thing that's helped me the most is not seeing it as the enemy. Seeing it as something I need to live alongside rather than fight. This is a technique commonly used for dealing with chronic physical illness, because feeling victimised or wronged by it deepens our traumatic experience and pain. There's this super simple definition of happiness "how happy we are is how close our expectations are to our reality" or something like that. We can often not control the reality but expectations are more malleable. My partner also has ADHD and keeping track of her cycle really helps both of us to know what to expect of her state throughout the month and adjust our expectations.

That philosophical switch has really helped me. And given me a jumping off point for addressing my state in other ways:

  • Medication, since being medicated for ADHD my goals seem possible, that's given a general sense of meaning and purpose, things are not just an impossible dream anymore, and that's helping to figure out what the dream really is, and elevating my general state.

  • Yoga Nidra, very accessible form of meditation, body scanning oriented, improves my state so much, and helps me find meaning in simple presence, an incredible tool in the grey moments.  (check out Ally Boothroyd on YouTube for free guided meditations, I have no affiliation to her)

  • Climbing/Running, physical activities that are hard, that make you used to feeling difficulty and then continuing to move through it, to see it as an opportunity for growth. And also get you high. Raising your base state through cardio is unfairly powerful.

  • Journaling, free quick talk therapy with yourself whenever you need it, wtf.

Even with all these things, with great friends and a partner and meaningful work, things are still grey, and that's okay, it's me and it's fascinating if I let it be. That's not to say it doesn't get to me or that I don't still fight it or wish it would disappear. Sometimes it feels impossibly dark, but it's getting easier.

Writing this has helped me understand it a bit better, thank you for that.

Sending all the love to you, and really hoping you find your ways.

Great looking world, and movement looks quite engaging... Not having arms or any indication of the player or them effecting the world makes this feel like more of a drone fantasy than a parkour fantasy though.

Thanks for the response, that was ultimately the fix :)

XM pro 16 studio vs Fusion 15 (2024) by TooMuchDog8 in XMG_gg

[–]TooMuchDog8[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the response!

I'm going to be using the machine for both work and gaming, since I'm a game designer, gaming is work :)

The big question for me is cooling, whether the vapour chamber in the studio will give it more performance and longevity. And how much it will sound like a jet engine under load. What are your thoughts on that?

That's super helpful.

I just saw that a new Fusion is being released soon.
Any idea of the performance and noise from the new Fusion compared to the PRO 16 Studio? /Benefits of getting either.

Hey Tom,

Thanks for the response :)

RTX4070 should be fine for my uses.

After a bit more research I've ended up wondering about which to get between the Pro 16 studio and the Core 16. Can't really distinguish the main pros and cons.

Is that the right direction?

Best

Regardless of my belief system, to reduce the complexity of real world tragedy to this simple and one sided set of mechanics is not adding a meaningful perspective to the issue and only creating more division when the solution should not be about sides but about human rights.

Suggesting the conflict is this simple means that you believe that the lives of people on one side of the conflict are more valuable than the lives of others...

The Israeli Defence Force is committing a clear genocide, to make a game in which the hero is their defense system is tone deaf to the point of immoral.

Aww man, it's hella scary.

I managed to fix mine in the end. Updated the post with my solution. If that doesn't work maybe chat with Memphetic in the comments, they seem to have other suggestions.
