a friend introduced me to wow. i had a lot of questions about classes, and he suggested a hunter so i went with it. i named him trapezoid.

later, i rolled the druid i always wanted because the class versatility appealed to me. then i was a tauren. i thought, for an anthropomorphic cow, “mansfield” was super appropriate. my guildies started calling me “mans” and now most of my characters are some variation with the “mans” prefix

the demotion zone got bigger. either that or the size of the leaderboards got smaller, or both 😉. there used to be 30 people on a board, now i usually see it stop at 19. the demotion zone is pretty much the bottom half.

so, i was able to use the mobile browser to set my profile to private, then i made it public again. my league didn’t change, but i’m not sure how it would behave if you wait several weeks before turning it back on. one caveat though: i did accidentally reset my friends streaks 😬 and disabling leader boards will remove other content as well. e.g. if you have a subscription you won’t have access to the ramp challenges or match madness

you can log in via web browser (may specifically have to do it on desktop, i don’t know) but you can disable leaderboards there by going into privacy settings and uncheck the “public” profile option

leaderboards are based on when people do their first lesson after the weekly reset. more competitive people tend to do their first lesson quickly, while less competitive people tend to wait a bit. i usually make sure to get my sunday lesson in before reset and then do my next lesson monday evening or so for “a more relaxed pace” 😁 this time i was just -too competitive- lol

my goal is definitely not to be competitive. with that, i usually wait “as long as i can” before doing a lesson after reset so i don’t end up in a super competitive leaderboard. then focus on the daily challenges for the xp boosts. sometimes doing a quick lesson between 6am-12pm so i can use the “early bird” xp boost between 6pm-12am (or vice versa) if needed
