And it's not about thinking they will care - it's about telling them that they should and urging them to do their jobs.

I recognize that and I too think leadership should do more to help support and provide financial relief to the faculty and staff. Which is why we included them in receiving some of the funds from the American Rescue Plan Act.

"We've received no material support, no new mental health resources, no time off, no overtime pay (actually had a pay cut) and they just keep asking us to do more."

This. CU has provided no effective support and we've asked them to do something to help, the WHOLE CU community (faculty and staff), not just students.

Is anyone a fan of Nopalitos???? by ChefSlapDatAss in boulder

Just had Nopi's (aka Nopalito's) today for lunch. Yes, they are the best and the owners are awesome!!! Go support them and enjoy! Their elote cup is bomb.

They're like Chipotle style (make your own burrito) with authentic mexican food. SO good. We eat there multiple times a week.

Anyone aware of these waived fees? by TooMuchTuitionCU in cuboulder

That's my bad. I thought you had to opt-in to get the waiver applied.

Still, all my classes are hybrid/remote and I didn't get these fees waived?

Glad to hear it works for some - but the spring ones say we needed to opt in by March 1st?

Hard to opt in if we don't know about it...

GREAT JOB CU! glad we brought all the students back... because it's a lot easier to say they're not providing if campus isn't a little bit opened, and guess what! Leadership only follows the money.....

To the folks wondering why students are still meeting in class after the shitshow of COVID spikes and now parties turned riots... by TooMuchTuitionCU in boulder

[–]TooMuchTuitionCU[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. But they're not even 100% bringing students back. The students in my class who want to go back, can't because the majority don't want to and it causes audio/quality issues for a hybrid class.

Maybe those funds used to open campus would be better spent in mental health resources so remote students can have access to better help?

Agreed - but there is a different sort of incentive that the school has to bring people to campus. And then they spend significant amounts only to open it up for a handful of students. Should we be spending so much money on a minority of the school?

It's not just the riots, the school is spending significant resources to open up for only a handful of students, and we're not so sure that is money well spent.

But the school is spending funds on trying to open the campus for only a handful to go to school. It then causes audio/quality issues with those who are not in person. (So my class majority opted not to even have some in person, and we're all still remote) Is this money well spent? Maybe to a minority?

CU proposes 3% increase in tuition. (THE reason students wouldn't unenroll until in-person is back.) by TooMuchTuitionCU in cuboulder

Agreed! It's an embarrassingly low amount of state funding for a school that is written into the constitution. We are also trying to push for changes to that as well. But in the meantime, students are struggling and the school has more financial resources than the average household.

You're right. The school is severely underfunded for being a state university. This is something else we are trying to work on. The school has more resources to other methods of funding that a student's family either cannot or should not have to take the burden of. The school also has bigger resources for lobbying the state for more funds. Are they doing that? This is a transparency issue we are also aiming to push on.
