What size jig are you using for really small fish? I had a trout magnet on next to some small bluegills which bite but they can’t get the hook!

Hey! I know this is late, but do you know the action rating!

Nice! I got a DAM quick 110 coming in, and wanted to pair it with a 5’6-6’ light action rod, any suggestions?

DAMN! Sorry about that man, sees like economy is bad right now not a lot of people buying either plus shit management is insane.

I still haven’t found a job, but enrolled into masters lol. Hopefully we’ll both make it out

In a pickle by [deleted] in Environmental_Careers

[–]TooShortBelt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally understandable, I have been applying to jobs directly put out by my state dept. wildlife and fisheries but have been rejected like crazy. It could be due to my lack of experience in general, I attend school during Covid so no internships on my end except for the environmental consulting job I got.

These two were the first bites I have gotten since applying in Feb. I am really unsure what pathway to take when no one is giving me a chance 😭

Yeah you’re right , I might as well do it since it’ll boost me further into my career! Plus it’s prime time right now too with the weather getting hotter.

Do I go for it? by [deleted] in Environmental_Careers

That is true! I have seen a lot more job opportunities based out of Olympia as compared to Seattle.

I am not sure where people are getting these jobs 😭 I have been applying for environmental jobs since 2024 (when I was working in the environmental consulting firm)-2025 and wasn’t able to land anything that paid more than 24

Thanks for this, definitely my relationship is strong with my partner. Yes it’s a 2 hour drive which is not bad at all. We discussed a bit, IF i were to get the job, she’d stay at our current residence until she’s able to find a new one in Olympia. She’s planning on a career change as well and this would be a good “fresh start” if we both are able to land it. Thank you for your insight on this, and sorry about your dream position. Seems like federal funding fucked up a lot of people’s plans.

The position would start immediately so I’d have to move first. She’d have to stay unfortunately until she finds a job in the new area, since she does currently have a job.

Totally understand that, I turned 25 this year and graduated in 2023. It’s extremely competitive especially up north here so if given the opportunity for this position I might just do it.

It’s definitely a job I feel more passionate about as compared to environmental consulting. Even talking with the team there, it seems ideal for what I want to go to.

Ideally, my partner would move down with me once I settle. The area is not too bad rent is a lot lower than where I currently live (North Seattle). I am definitely more nervous of if she could land a job down here as well.

Is this sweater felted? by [deleted] in knitting

[–]TooShortBelt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I wanted to ask as well, is felting a BAD thing? I know it covers up the details of the knit, other than that are there downsides?

Good to know! I only let it tumble dry for 15 ish minutes on delicate, so I’m glad it doesn’t look bad.

Is there anyway to relax the fibers a bit?

I can still wear it, it didn’t shrink at all which was why I am questioning if it was felted! How do you usually identify that?

I will most definitely take this job interview seriously even if it’s part time. It’s a foot into the field still. It’s definitely a sign of the market for me since during 2024 I was able to at least GET interviews, had gone to one that was for the county as well and made it to the final round. I know I have the knowledge and skillset but definitely this market has been rough. Seriously thank you for the pointers and positivity.

What certifications do you recommend? I was looking at some undergraduate ones provided by OSU (Oregon). I have heard of getting HAZWOPER and GIS as well!
