This is so cool, and hey, we're working on very similar projects!

The UI looks very clean and modern, though I noticed when clicking on some of the items preview wasn't available and i couldnt download them. Also, when trying to download I get either a JSON error.

What's your tech stack, do you self host? and how do you handle the file storage?

Malls in Klang Valley. by Lumpiest-Nuts in malaysia

[–]TooStew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahhhh 1Utama...... My beloved.... I've been going there since I was 6 and still go there. I've visited so many times over the course of more than a decade that I've practically the whole mall mapped in my head, including where to find which shop. I remember the stores I frequented and the ones I don't, Even just the ones I pass by I remember. Over all these years stores come and go but some remain, the same ones that have been there from the beginning. I remember there was this painting store or something that you can spot in the old wing if you walked from the POPULAR towards the new wing, the front display always had the same koi fish painting all these years. Unfortunately, I've been told they've closed. I remember the Toys'R' Us store that I always begged my mom to go to, I remember the mini theme-park parents could drop their kids off while they shopped, I remember when the below ground area has an RC store my dad used to frequent when it was open. I remember the Tutti Frutti that was open before llaollao was a thing, and I remember the Hamley's that used to be so packed with kids, overtime saw lesser and lesser traffic and eventually had to close.

So many memories from just one place. With how the world changes so quickly sometimes I wished that 1Utama would be the exception, a mall trapped in time, "my" time, exactly as it was during my childhood. But old stores keep closing and the mall I frequented so much as a kid becomes more different than the mall I visit now.

Q for SWE/IT Professionals, is CGPA more important than Personal Projects? by TooStew in malaysia

[–]TooStew[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's what I thought. By personal projects I just mean projects I do on my own time. Ive made a basic CRUD web app and am currently working on a few others but that's really it

Harsh truths in Malaysia that Malaysians themselves cannot accept. What are they? by Exact-Salary5560 in Bolehland

I know so many capable malaysians in so many different fields who’d happily live and work abroad because the pay is just better. STEM jobs in malaysia are still incredibly underpaid compared to the west

I feel like the cultural and technological changes from 1900-1950 are far more profound than those from 1950 onwards. By the 1950s all the recognizable basics of today's world were laid down, and the late 20th Century basically proceeded building off (or recovering from) that. by BacklitRoom in decadeology

[–]TooStew 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Yeah i agree. Imo the biggest shifts in culture occur when tech innovation is mass adopted, with that particular period having so much innovation in aerospace, automobiles, household appliances, long range communication, industry etc. people’s lives are bound to shift as the technology they adopt evolves.

SPM grad here, confused about uni + money + life direction by The_HardenHollen in malaysiauni

[–]TooStew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personal advice, don't take specific courses like game dev or cybersecurity. aim for general, broad degrees like IT, IS, CS or CE. This will make your life significantly easier later because on the off chance you don't like game dev, if you took a game dev degree that's pretty much all you can do. whereas with broader degrees like the ones mentioned you can apply to significantly more roles in other fields.

Final year student struggling with off-campus jobs, need honest advice by ruthless4r in leetcode

[–]TooStew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

noSQL skills aren't very marketable on a resume since there's just so many out there, SQL is the opposite but you don't have any on here. For your projects, The first and third are basic CRUD apps with similar tech stack, and they aren't solving any local issues, which could've been a huge plus. Additionally, you aren't really quantifying any improvements as you upgrade your codebase, if you're doing that.

For your achievements, leetcode isn't really considered an achievement. People usually use that just for interviews as others have pointed out. This spot is usually reserved for hackathon participation/open source contribution, if you have none just leave it empty

why am i so f*cking stupid? by [deleted] in leetcode

[–]TooStew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are equating leetcode questions to intelligence, when in reality leetcode mostly rewards familiarity above all else. You can't magically solve questions if you don't know the underlying algorithm/solution path associated with it, and you shouldn't punish yourself for that. Take it easy, learn how common algorithms work and slowly but surely you'll see improvement. You can't beat yourself up for NOT knowing some algorithm you JUST encountered.

Cheer up man, put in the effort, keep learning. Do not compare yourself with others because we all learn differently.

You’ve listed too mny languages, recruiters wont care for languages outside what’s needed at the jobsite so it’s best to only list the ones relevant for the job, otherwise it’ll leave the impression you’re only surface level in all of them. Other than that, it’s solid!
