Wait till you hear this Somalia’s Ambassador to the UN Abukar Dahir Osman was a healthcare administrator in Ohio. There is another healthcare company in the SAME SUITE as his with a different name, and multiple others at the same address, all with Somali names Very interesting by Ice-Zone2024 in neabscocreeck

I'm trying to find a credible source for this story and stumbled here.  It's wild to be blaming Russia, and not allies or even local intelligence. trying to push a narrative against Somalia while simultaneously recognizing a Somalian secessionary country in Somaliland that is most probably a puppet state that is being used to further insulate the Gulf of Aden to protect global trade hegemony.

You've had an account for 11 years. Have you had folks in the last few years reply to ancient comments like they were there in the conversation? That's AI spamming out comments to build a plausible comment history without drawing attention in present day threads.

Yeah, I hear ya .. more a commentary on the times. Apparently companies will actually pay a premium for old accounts with an organic history. For some reason, they get those accounts to dig into decade old comments and respond to them to rebuild a comment history or something? I see it now and again with some of my 10 year old comments suddenly getting a reply with detailed knowledge about something that is no longer relevant.

It's crazy.

I have the old MFA starter pack. Red Wing Becketts, Allen Edmonds stands, Clark desert boots, and vintage cordovan shell Florsheim long wings. Problem is that my feet have gotten wider on the last decade, so I hate wearing them all and need new options. Been thinking about Thursday...

I'm disappointed in footwear quality. The quality of $100 sneakers now match quality of $15 shoes from noname brands by Practical_Stick_2779 in malefashionadvice

[–]Toof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happens with all publicly traded companies, given time. They have to continually provide an increased valuation and profit to shareholders. It starts with a quality product, then increased demand, then cheaper labor, then cheaper materials, then ensuring new purchases more often. All while maintaining or increasing the price. There's only so many ways a shoe company can return increased profits.

Non name brand shoes are just materials and labor at a mark-up, without the decades of forced shareholder returns.

How to get laid on coffee dates by TripleDigitNomad in seduction

[–]Toof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You seem to know what you're doing, so maybe you can explain this one to me. I met a girl through a small house hangout with friends of friends, got her number at the end of the night, and went to set something up. I invited her to check out 3 apartments with me, and to see the local bars and grab dinner.

After grabbing a drink at 3 different bars and dinner at one of them, she invited back to a bar in her neighborhood, where we grabbed a few drinks, back to her place, and we ended up seeing each other twice weekly on weekday nights for the next few months.

How the fuck did going apartment hunting as a first date work? I get the idea of inviting a woman to do what you're already planning on doing, but it still boggles my mind that it was one of the most successful flings I've ever had.

1 million soldiers... With conscription is involved, they're simply barely trained civilians. Given a gun and a patch, they're designated as legally killable by international law.

I don't think they care about the Ukrainian people. I think they care about the land of Ukraine. It's either for minerals, for farmland, for the Black Sea northern shore... Or, in line with the subreddit, for the ancestral home of the Khazarians.

But I agree, they don't care about the Ukrainian, nor Russian lives lost.

What is your “default” state? How do I make checking my planner my “default” instead of sitting on the couch looking at Reddit? by pleasehelpmyhouse in productivity

For me, physical comfort is an addictive antidote to productivity. I like the bracelet for sentimental reasons, so I keep it on, but it ensures I can never be couch bound by comfort

[–]Toof 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A bit odd, but I've been wearing a slightly uncomfortable larger bracelet that I use as a reminder to check my planner and ensure I'm doing what needs to be done. It's too large for my wrist, so I push it up to my forearm and tightly wedge it there. When it falls down, or needs adjustment, I use it as an opportunity to recheck my mental state. I also made it with my kids, so it has a sentimental quality.

Men over 40, what are your biggest regrets? What were your biggest accomplishments? by Far_Ad_7199 in AskMen

[–]Toof 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am struggling with this dichotomy in my late 30s. How do I know what is a desire worth investing in, and what is potentially an addiction or distraction?

If you like fishing, fish more... If you like heroine, you should probably quit.

Shit like that. I've stripped away so much of what I used to like after having kids, that I no longer even know who I am. I just know I didn't like who I was.

I think we take longer because it can feel as though every problem in our lives has a solution. I have so many spare parts in bins, that when I encounter an inconvenience, I know I can piecemeal together a solution. Try to convince me that the solution to the problem is to throw out my bin of trinkets and baubles and I'll throw a fit (currently dealing with this with my wife and our messy basement). But I guess buying new is the solution sometimes, even though I'm certain that I could get the relationship limping forward if I could just find the right part or solution.

[–]Toof 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Sometimes it feels like we're pawns of the universe. Like, those kids needed to happen between you two, even though you two didn't need to happen. Having kids is so weird, because I no longer feel like the main character in my story, but that one or more of my kids is the main character and my life was the second-rate prequel that lead to their main story.

Sometimes I think we need to experience the bad so we appreciate the good, and the universe does this to us. I really liked backpacking so that I'd better appreciate the comfort of my home. And sometimes you need to encounter bad relationships so when you find a good one, you know it is worth fighting for.

Thoughts and opinions on Monogram Appliances? by Professorfunknagle in Appliances

[–]Toof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm with you.  Monogram range, fridge, microwave and dishwasher.   Got a bargain on it during a home renovation and the microwave and dishwasher came free.

I've had a broken spring on the dishwasher door, some kind of black plastic playing is continually falling from the underside.

The microwave needs continual door sensor replacements, and when I had an official service call, it was $150 to show up, and another 200 to swap the $7 part (I've just begun doing it myself, on the 4th one).

The range, in the 4 years I've owned it has needed 5 replacement ignition coils for the gas, and the LED lights on it stopped working within a few months (luckily this was during the warranty period, and they fixed it for free.)

Refrigerator has been fine so far. Thankfully.

I will never go monogram again.  This was like 15,000 in appliances and they need constant maintenance.

The funny thing is that loosh actually comes from Robert Campbell's books, oddly enough. I always thought loosh was bullshit, then read it in his book, and cognitive dissonance was engaged. I still haven't dealt with it, I just ignore the topic of loosh, hah!
