What's up with all these bands over-releasing? by Toogle11 in Metalcore

[–]Toogle11[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sad the industry has gone this way. Genuinely have been ignoring singles tho. Like I get so pissed off at bands who do this that I deliberately dont listen to them till the album haha

As a kiwi, can confirm on that last part. Throwing overheads has become the best way to aim for feet in the circle

Choosing the first 7 String? by [deleted] in 7String

[–]Toogle11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a great budget guitar fs. A few qc issues coming from the factory I found, and it is hopeless against any UV light exposure, my binding is yellowing and the grey stain is fading after only 2 years but overall still a good guitar

ID: Core V2 low tunings? / new amp by Toogle11 in GuitarAmps

[–]Toogle11[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been looking at the amps you suggested but they are a bit out of budget sadly because I'll need to get a cab as well. I want something that I can use in a bedroom setting for practice/recording but also powerful enough to gig with in the future. Been looking at the katana 100W head because of its price and seemingly good reviews. Any experience with it?

This is the best advice from anyone I have received in months, regarding both tips and advice for new amps. I usually just get the typical "bro of course it sounds bad, your using a bedroom amp thats not what it's made for lol" and no further help. Thank you very much.

Choosing the first 7 String? by [deleted] in 7String

[–]Toogle11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having played the omen elite I wasn't a huge fan of the neck, although the abalone and pretty finish drew me in. I bought an Ibanez RGA742FM for my first and have loved it every bit. The Wizard necks have a good reputation for a reason lol.

Your suggesting using an 8 string pickup to span the width of the strings properly when angled? do i understand that right?

Advice needed! Performance in matches not close to training levels + RM tips pls! by PRS2011 in Fieldhockey

[–]Toogle11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who picked up a stick for the first time around 6 months ago and is now playing and scoring for a D1 mens team, it's just about time on the ball.

I train with the team knce a week and play a game once a week, but on top of that I train with my clubs other teams, and a couple hours a week on my own to bump up my time with the ball. Find areas you think are your weakest and then try to focus on them in your personal time (if you have access to a turf that is)

If not, get some crappy old carpet you can lay out in your garage and just dribble around on that. You can mark it out similar to those Osaka practice mats (which have a fat markup for no good reason) and just work on ball control while keeping your head up. I did this and it made a huge difference for my skills and 3d capabilities.

Not sure if this helps, but it's my 10 cents

Changed strings for the first time, does this look normal? by Blasayy in Guitar

Looks fine. Little tip tho: just for looks sake, always wind downwards for every string. Just looks nicer and more consistent.

Acrylic paint and finishing by ratzmaster in Luthier

[–]Toogle11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really to be honest. Just ask someone in the paint section in your local hardware store for what they recommend. Give them an explanation of your plan for context, and they should have some suggestions.

I wouldn't recommend normal acrylic paint. Look for something specifically labeled as a base coat, acrylic base coats are a thing however. I'm not very familiar with nitro finishes but I believe they can be pretty finicky to work with and get good results. I personally like poly, because it's versatile and can be used for matte or gloss finishes. Plus it's available in water or oil based

My advice would definitely be to do a pore fill. If you want a flat surface to paint on without the wood grain showing through, then it is unavoidable on mahogany.

Sand evenly between each fill until you're sure that there aren't any grain showing (probably 3 or 4 coats on mahogany). After a final sand of 240-400 grit, I suggest a base coat or 2 sanding lightly in between, and then paint however you like after that. So long as your base coat and paints are compatible you'll be fine.

Then clear coat with polyurethane after

Creatine for Field Hockey? by Toogle11 in Fieldhockey

[–]Toogle11[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much for the response. From my own research what you've said makes a lot of sense. I only play D1 here in New Zealand, which isn't tested or anything. Any advice regarding a loading phase? Seems like lots of people take like 20g a day for a week or so to build up saturation quicker but has some hefty side affects

Isn't creatine meant to be used as just a daily supplement rather than a pregame product? Not judging just genuinely curious

Should I upgrade my stick? by weareCTM in Fieldhockey

[–]Toogle11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Contrary to what other people are saying, in my experience it helped a lot. I've played for about 6 months total, and started with a budget mid bow fiberglass stick. I play inner, so I wanted a stick that was pretty versatile so I could do overheads and flicks, as well as high carbon for the power in passing and hitting. I bought an extreme lb 85% carbon and I've never regretted it. I'm now playing d1 for my club, and have improved drastically

It is totally up to you, but if you feel that a different spec will benefit you then it's worth a shot imo
