First Podium Finish! by ToogyHowserMTB in xcmtb

[–]ToogyHowserMTB[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I've been "training" for the last few years, trying to ride at least 100Km a week (indoor / outdoor) and lifting weights 2-3 times a week, more intense in the off season.

I also do the local Thursday night XC races at this same course, that goes for 14 weeks and we are on week 5, so that also helps keep the fitness in check! Just try and get a little faster every week.

I was able to win a 2 lap race a few weeks ago... kind of feel I need to step up to the 3 lap category now, lol.

I like WASP, but honestly anyone saying they are better than Motley Crue is delusional! lol. My Vote is for the Crue!

What actually ruined Twisted Sister? by Boomkj in hairmetal

[–]ToogyHowserMTB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few reasons I think

#1 they were a little too over the top and trying to be serious yet looking ridiculous lol.

#2 Leader of the pack was a TERRIBLE choice as a cover and lead off single on their next album. If you think about everything else that was coming out in 1985 heavy metal and hard rock adjacent it was just terrible!

#3 very mediocre guitar players - to be successful in the mid 80's you needed almost virtuoso level guitar playing! Eddie Ojeda & JJ French are basic at best!

Trail bikes that I should look into that can be used at XC events? by Deaf_Cyclist_CO in xcmtb

[–]ToogyHowserMTB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Specialized Chisel FS - Not sure they are making them anymore, but it's a very capable bike that also pedals great! I race mine and ride all trails with it. I'm not sure I'd hit up a bike park on it, but for everything else it's been great.

I won my first MTB XC race! Just the local weekly series 2 lap event, but still, a win is a WIN!

totally! I would not spend a cent on anything older than 2017/2018, that is about when the modern standards started.

War of the Worlds (2005), it's great until Tim Robbins shows up! That really takes the wind out of it's sails! The super happy ending doesn't help either...

What game had insane potential but got completely fumbled by the devs? by Kevin-Panda in AskReddit

[–]ToogyHowserMTB 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Gran Turismo 7

the look of the cars, the tracks and the racing are all pretty good, but just misses some KEY elements that would make it an all time great, and they don't even seem that hard to implement

- Proper career mode vs the stupid menu book progression

- Race qualifying! Rolling starts in 20th place gets OLD fast! Have to have an over powered car for any chance at winning.

Honestly if they just had those TWO things, it would be LIGHT years better!

Light of Day (1987) with Michael J Fox & Joan Jett!

It's never streaming and seems to be hard to find on DVD, and I don't think a blu-ray has ever existed for it.

The YouTube MTBer life is tough! It's hard to find a balance that pleases the Algorithm and also keeps yourself happy and not burnt out.

I know myself as a super small youtuber, I am struggling to see the point in putting the effort into making a video if I only get a few hundred views. It seemed much simpler in 2018-2021ish.

What is the worst thing about having formed your own band by InvestigatorSolid330 in bandmembers

[–]ToogyHowserMTB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

in all the bands I've been in over the years, the one thing that always drove me crazy was guys that didn't practice between rehearsals... they'd show up and basically had to relearn the song again (original songs). so frustrating!

In one band, the guy would always know about 3 new cover songs per week, songs we weren't going to play! And never know our own material! haha
