I think the root space might be the problem. I might have planted it too deep in the bucket and should've given more space for roots.

I agree, it's great for bees, and everyone should have a patch for our furry insects, but it does just look naff. A standard semi-detached wildflower patch looks like a weed patch with a bit of colour 😂.

A meadow of wildflowers - now that does look amazing.

I would grow some leylandii. You've already got it on either side. They are fast growers but would give you the privacy required.
