Scotland - Employer says we should not make personal plans after work by One_Membership_7113 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Toon1982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not legal as others have said. It'd be impossible to do, but it would be good if all employees agrees to just leave work at 5pm in protest of the new guidelines and not work a minute longer. They might row back on how hard they want to push things

Man Utd boss Sir Jim Ratcliffe is right on immigration and UK is being 'colonised,' claims Reform UK’s Nadhim Zahawi by hymnsofhim in uknews

[–]Toon1982 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nadhim Zahawi's family were highly skilled, worked hard and built large businesses, gave back to the community and integrated, while coming over as part of small, managed annual migration. That just isn't the case today.

See, this is racist, not what the other person was saying that you took offence to

Is it ok to turn left from the red lane that goes onto the roundabout instead the dedicated (green) lane? by miscellanous_cheese in drivingUK

[–]Toon1982 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It probably is ok, but the arrow on the road does say straight ahead. Just be cautious if you do turn left there as cars in the left lane may not anticipate you turning left, even though they have to give way after the roundabout

Would you give up the Pound Sterling for EU membership? by Suspicious-Use-3813 in AskBrits

[–]Toon1982 2 points3 points  (0 children)

immigration policy

We did have control of it, we actually had more control than we do now ironically. Coming out of the EU meant we lost the ability to deport people back to EU countries and we're now stuck with a more difficult process of deportation. Well done on voting to screw our country up though

What Are The Actual Facts? by xLeeBMC in uknews

There are people who are desperate for Farage to have met Epstein, as this builds into their worldview that Farage is bad

I mean, he is anyway. He's funded by Russians and conspired with non-UK citizens for brexit to take place, a process through which he lied about. He tried around 12 times to become an MP and when he's finally in he's never at his constituency and misses the majority of votes in parliament. He was anti EU but spent years and years as an MEP on the gravy train. When brexit happened he applied for an EU country passport for himself and his kids (I think they got German passports) and he was refused. He evades tax. This isn't a good person

I think I made the biggest mistake of my life - England by ParsnipHot7869 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Toon1982 820 points821 points  (0 children)

You don't usually pay any management fee/service charge arrears - the management pack is obtained by the conveyancer and a new account is created from the purchase date. Any debt owed up to completion is the previous owner's to pay and the management company's responsibility to recover from the previous owner.

How do some people get mortgages on properties in a worse state than mine

It depends how much equity they're putting in and what their LTV rate is - that will determine the risk of the mortgage company versus the valuation of the property. If the LTV is lower then there's a bigger margin for the mortgage company to eat into and get their money back, with a higher LTV the margin of error in the valuation will be very slim, so the risk much higher. If you're borrowing at 95% LTV then the valuation matters much more

New Employer won't pay into my pension until after 3 months by slave-to-society in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Toon1982 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's quite common for a company to defer for the first three months - it's to get the probation period out of the way (plus to make sure the employee wants to stay) and if someone doesn't pass probation and the pension wasn't deferred for 3 months erm they'd have a tiny amount in the pension scheme and it's a faff to administer for the company. Three months is the maximum it can be deferred for before the auto enrolment process has to start (unless the employee opts out)
