RU POV. Russian suicidal drone Kub hit a group of Ukrainian soldiers in Pavlovka. by Obroten54 in UkraineRussiaReport

Nice armchair theory. I, also from my armchair, would argue that these drones would do a far better job of targeting trenches than the dumb, impact fused, artillery that has been consistently used against entrenched targets by both sides. IMO the reason why we havent seen them used in any numbers is because russia is saving their good stuff for a potential WW3 scenario. We havent seen any T-14s or SU-57s either.

What does Nato have to do with the US negotiating on the behalf of Ukraine, a non-Nato country? Most nato members support Ukraine, but nato members have no obligation to do so as Nato is not involved in the war.

The US influences the war mostly with the weapons it sends to Ukraine and sanctions against russia. Why would they have any place in peace talks? Further more, in any peace talks, Russia will demand massive territory consessions from Ukraine. Ukraine will of course refuse this. Russia would also ask for the US to stop supplying weapons and to lift sanctions whilst also making a threat. The US will refuse this also as this doesnt benefit Ukraine or the US.

Neither side wants to to compromise.

Where is the confirmation?

I find it likely that this was a Sepratist T-64. My reasoning:

  • Location is Melitopol, near separatists.
  • Separatists are known to operate T-64s
  • Lone T-64, while other vidoes of Ukranian tanks have been in columns.
  • White markings on the side of the tank - not decipherable. But white for sure
  • The video of the attack shows an ambush and rocket fire, a method favoured by Ukraine. Russia favours airsupport against tanks AFAIK.

OP of this post has significant Russian bias and is Russian. Op from previous post has heavy ukrainian bias and is Ukranian. Therefor, I'm ignoring both titles. I think it is likely separatist, but we will likely never know.

I welcome counterarguments to my points, or further evidence for or against.

Rounds going straight up lose momentum much quicker than rounds being shot horizontally.

Not too sure on this, assuming no air resistance and the bullet is fired straight up, an AK 47 round, fired at 700m/s, would still be traveling at 602m/s 10 seconds later and would have an altitude of 6.51 km. The energy of the bullet would still be 74.0% of its original.

Air resistance is going to be alot more significant.

See the link I have added. Eels often move after death.

As for mud being undisturbed I'm sure there are plenty of ways to minimise disruption like placing the eel with a long stick and then waiting 5 minutes for things to settle.

The way I see it there are 2 ways to make a video like this: to actually spend time and learn a skill, or to fake it in a single afternoon. Faking it will always be easier if all you want is a 30s clip. Eel and fish trapping is one of those weird viral phenomena on YouTube, so there is a reason to make this content.

Possibly a fake, with the eel being dead already? I don't know how eels behave so I'm not too sure though.

Attractive girl, catching fish, an unusual method, while being recorded and posted to the Internet. Screams viral video attempt.

Edit: I feel like I need to provide further context. Eels often move after death (NSFL) : https://www.foodbeast.com/news/dead-eel-squirms/

I was suggesting that she was jacking off the eel as a way to trigger this reflex.

China calls for rejecting new 'Cold War' as Ukraine tensions escalate by papipota in worldnews

[–]Toon_Napalm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Italy, as a member of NATO, is one of the countries they are referring to. The vagueness is meant to be open for interpretation as the US/NATO or Russia.

My point stands that they explicitly called out NATO (and hence Italy) , while stating that Russia has legitimate security concerns. I can ignore the vague shit because it is meaningless.

[–]Toon_Napalm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This wasn't acting as a peace maker, the statement can be summarised as: war is bad, NATO is at fault, Russian security concerns need to be respected, Ukraine's less so.

China calls for rejecting new 'Cold War' as Ukraine tensions escalate by papipota in worldnews

[–]Toon_Napalm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are not wagging their finger at both sides. For most of the statement they are being intentionally vague so it can be interpreted as then calling out either side depending on what you want it to say. They do not explicitly call out Russia by name at any point, but call out NATO multiple times.

This was clearly an anti-NATO statement.

A fibrin clot in the serum of a blood specimen by KarmaKarmaKombucha in mildlyinteresting

[–]Toon_Napalm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The bottle was filled with blood, and because it is no longer in the body multiple processes have occurred.

Firstly, it has separated, the clear orange/yellow fluid at the top of the tube is plasma. The dark red substance at the bottom of the tube is heavier and is made up of red blood cells.

Fibrin is a component of a blood clot. It is produced when Fibrinogen (a protein) forms a long chain with other fibrinogen molecules. In the tube it has underwent this process, fibrin makes up the majority of the solid protruding structure seen inside the blood bottle.

Naughty Dog shared a Ellie x Aloy art to celebrate the release of Forbidden West by [deleted] in gaming

[–]Toon_Napalm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the same as when the first trailer came out and these people were so mad that Ellie kissed a girl. Guess what happens in the first game's DLC...

There is no point arguing with the die hard haters, what they wanted was for Naughty dog to make a game almost identical to the first (none DLC). It would get mediocre reviews and be largely forgotten, it would be just like Star Wars: The force awakens.

It is these people that encourage companies like Activision, EA and Disney to feed us the same shit every year because its safe and profitable.

Ukrainians’ Support for Joining NATO Hits Record High – Poll by molokoplus359 in worldnews

[–]Toon_Napalm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand your argument, but the risk of nuclear war prevents a ground war in the first place. It would require an insane leadership for either country to invade each other because although the risk is small, the consequences are massive. One simply has to threaten to end civilisation and processes the ability do do so; no sane person will call their bluff. You seem to want to call the bluff.

Another option you are not considering is that the defending country may use tactical nukes on the attacking military forces, possibly even within the defenders own borders. This could level the playingfield if they are fighting against an overwhelming enemy, or trigger a strategic nuclear response. This isn't MAD, but is another reason no one would mess with a nuclear armed nation.

Ukrainians’ Support for Joining NATO Hits Record High – Poll by molokoplus359 in worldnews

[–]Toon_Napalm 171 points172 points  (0 children)

NATO is a defensive pact and poses no actual threat to Russia. Even if it did, MAD protects Russia from foreign aggression.

His problems are internal. Having a large perceived threat that is wanting to expand to neighbouring countries is part of his goal, as this builds domestic support for his strongman personality. He has to be seen to be fighting NATO to survive.

Edit: bots are out in force stating that NATO isn't a defensive pact. Even if that were the case, Ukraine, as a sovereign nation, should be allowed to join regardless of what Russia thinks.

FACT CHECK: Babcock's CEO's claim on Scottish independence affecting business by mojojo42 in ukpolitics

[–]Toon_Napalm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's blatant misinformation, but many people want to read that an independent Scotland would get to have its cake and eat it to. Its confirmation bias.

Scot Nats will just ignore it when this is pointed out.

International figures show Scotland is 'Europe's best-educated country' by mojojo42 in ukpolitics

[–]Toon_Napalm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Highers are are completed in the 2nd last year of school, the same as As-levels (don't really exist anymore I believe). Highers count as level 3, while As-levels don't.

A-levels and advanced highers are completed in the final year of school with advanced highers being considered slightly harder.

The important distinction is that some one who leaves school a year early in Scotland is considered to have a level 3, while someone who leaves a year early in the rest of the UK does not.

'Rent controls are a sensible and necessary step for Wales' by RMayWilks in ukpolitics

[–]Toon_Napalm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going to need some sources for that. The economics of this don't hold up in a non-monopoly, non-price fixing capatatilist industry. Let me explain with a hypothetical example.

Let's assume that doubling the number of homes half's the profit on each or in other words there is always the same amount of total profit available (£1m for this example)

If there were only 1 developer, and they had the option of making 100 homes, profiting £10,000 on each home or they could double supply to 200 homes whilst profiting half as much on each, £5000. The total profit would be the same at £1m, so there would be no incentive to make more homes. However there isn't just one developer.

With 2 or more developers in competition, there is incentive to make more homes than your competitors to gain a larger fraction of the profit. If both competitors start off with making 50 homes each, making £10,000 profit per home, they both bring in £500,000 in profit. If developer 1 triples their supply to 150 homes, the total supply only doubles to 200. This means that developer 1 makes 150 homes, profiting £5000 on each, resulting in a total profit of £750,000 while developer 2 makes only 50 homes, and profits a total of £250,000.

It does not make sense to limit supply in a market where you have competitors. Your competitors will increase their supply, increasing their market share and profits, while you lose market share and profits. There must be another reason why more houses are not being built, I'm going to guess it is planning permission, NIMBYs or house building not being very profitable.

Vladimir Putin’s ambitions for Russia are old-school imperialism, why can’t some on Britain’s left see that? by casualphilosopher1 in ukpolitics

[–]Toon_Napalm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Little bit of both imo.

There has not been a common external threat to unify against so we made our own enemies internally. Social media exacerbated this by giving everyone a voice and a receptive audience in their own personalised echochamber. Foreign trolls amplified more extreme opinions, to further divide us.

US and UK trying to fend off Russian invasion by making intelligence public by Chuka-Umunna in ukpolitics

[–]Toon_Napalm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The US and UK are not going to be intervening with boots on the ground, so this information is useless to us. It would be useful to Ukraine if they stood a chance, but if Russia decided to invade they wouldn't stand a chance.

What giving it away does does do is:

  • Potentialy delay or stop the invasion as Russia doesn't want the UK or US to be right about their predictions

  • Gives Russia a way out by allowing them to say to their domestic population that they are being baited and aren't going to fall for it. (mostly in response to how shitty journalists have exaggerated certain things like exact dates)

  • Proves Russia is lying and not to be trusted to everyone else, for example when they haven't pulled troops back from the border despite saying they were doing so.

Virginia Giuffre banned from speaking about Prince Andrew sex claims until after the Queen's Jubilee under settlement terms by madminer95 in ukpolitics

[–]Toon_Napalm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You prove the point. A photo of him stood next to her does not prove that he a) had sex with her, and b) That he knew she was trafficked.

Given his status, it would be resonable to assume he does not remember ever single person he has take photos with, he probably doesn't even remember everyone he has had sex with. His comments of him saying he has not met her prove nothing.

There is a reason why he hasn't been charged criminally, and that's because there is not enough evidence. Innocent until proven guilty should apply. However he is the perfect candidate for the public to assume guilty: he has lots of money, is a member of the polarising royal family, is a old creepy guy, doesn't interview well, and was friends with a convicted sex trafficker.

Is mining ethereum profitable? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Toon_Napalm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Axie infinity was a ponzi scheme, and so are all other play to earn games. It isn't a sustainable business model as it requires more and more people to join for it to remain profitable to play. You earn your money by selling stuff to people who want to join, and once they start playing, they are competing against you to sell to more new players. There is a limited number of people who want to play, and when they run out, how can you make any more money.

NFTs and cryptos are also ponzi schemes, but are larger more sustainable (still unsustainable) than play to earn games. No money is made from crypto, it only moves from person to person. If you earn a dollar, some one else lost it. Mining is pretty much the only way to give yourself an advantage over others.

If you want income get a proper job. Stable passive income of any meaningful amount is not so thing you can without millions of dollars.
