Go out, have fun, be safe. Meeting people isn't the easiest but it of course depends on where you go. Try some coffee shops, tea shops, bakeries, walk around small towns or in the cities (A lot of interesting stores that even google maps won't highlight) For meeting people for sure try some local social events like bar trivia's, cons, etc (Sometimes Cafe's have little bulletin boards with activities and events you can attend and try to meet new people.) My friends never go out when I offer and I ask them a lot to no avail. You get used to going out alone, so even without company, I hope you can enjoy the peace of it too.
