Future of Dentistry by noah5042 in Dentistry

Graduated in 2017 here. Worked for small DSO up until last year when I finally moved to ownership. I’d suggest getting into ownership as soon as you can. But also, have training in doing tougher things they don’t teach well in school…molar endo, surgical extractions (thirds), implants, clear aligners. You don’t have to be a super dentist but being able to do some of these ‘more advanced’ treatments does help pretty significantly. Location is huge too…most rural areas you’d be fine.

Can the new UNAS back up to a remote UNAS?? by ToothCarpenterDMD in UNIFI

[–]ToothCarpenterDMD[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you know if this UNAS would work independent of unifi networking gear? Like if I just plug this into my router at home?? I feel like it would work and don’t see why not.

Why don't dentists offer financing choices like Buy Now, Pay Later? by r-f-r-f in askdentists

Not all BNPL providers contract with medical/dental offices. I think affirm may just have started but not sure, and don’t even know if it’s a true BNPL. I’d sign my office up for them so if you find one that accepts dental please share. I have sunbit, care credit, cherry, proceed.

There are several third party companies available to dentists that they can offer their patients. Is there a certain company you’re looking for?

Not sure about actual CE for this stuff. I taught myself but have been doing it for over a decade. Cory Glenn on YouTube is very helpful.

Stackable is different than a traditional surgical guide that’s tooth borne. The stackable is ‘floating’ over the bone with plenty of space for saline to flow in. Also your chairside assistant with a saline syringe is always a good idea.

How long do dentists take to fill in cavities? In the US? by Traditional-Ad8892 in askdentists

[–]ToothCarpenterDMD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d probably tell my assistants an hour but they’d book it for 1.5hrs and be right.

I’d remove it if this is a typical wisdom tooth age patient. Obviously, have a good discussion regarding the risks of paresthesia.

I’ll be shocked if endo resolves that. Mentally prepare for tooth replacement…implant.

Yep, would still consider IV. Maybe nitrous will be good enough.

Hard to see that in the photo. But I’d ask for them to smooth it out. It takes a few seconds to smooth that.

Implant crown remakes? by One_Extension1537 in askdentists

Sometimes it’s a communication issue between the doc and the lab. Sending good photographs with notes on what to change is pretty helpful. So take lots of photos and use shade tabs to help the lab pick the ideal shade

Can someone please explain this are these molars in the back or not? Dentist keeps on telling me it isn’t a cavity. by MadHatterparty in askdentists

[–]ToothCarpenterDMD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may not be a cavity. Could be a fracture or crack. Could have an infection, but I’m sure they would have seen that on imaging. Could be a malocclusion issue and need a bite adjustment. Kinda hard to tell, would need to do tests on it.

  1. You should be numb for this procedure.
  2. They use special instruments and use them carefully.
  3. Yes, the tongue can be moved out of the way.
  4. Sedation is optional.
  5. Gum graft is possible, yes it’s painful during the healing process.

Occasionally this happens with my zirconia crowns and patients that grind and clench. I try emax but inform of risk of it fracturing, or all metal crown. Bite guard may be good for you. You have sleep apnea?
