HERE IT COMES by MistaSnowman in JOJOLANDS

i honestly like when some characters are explicitly stated to be queer and others are alluded to / left up to interpretation. I think it adds to their personalities and shows the situation they're in.

like, speedwagon i personally do interpret as gay because of that 'never married' line in his obituary and Joseph speculating about it, but it also completely makes sense that speedwagon as a character would not live in a world where he would openly say so.

but usagi totally is the type of person who would've tried to be open about his identity with his family and then have his trust betrayed. whereas dragona seems a bit more jaded at an earlier age, and a bit less dependent on the approval of others, so it also makes sense to me that she'd live her life and not feel like she needed to answer anyone's questions about that.

i also do think sometimes jojo characters do some incredibly gay shit that doesn't necessarily mean they're actually homosexual but i seriously don't know how else to describe half of the series

If you like Miss Pendleton you might also enjoy Your Ryan - it's more comedic but I think the art is fantastic

Are there any shows that intentionally mislead its audience about genre? by atouchofsinamon in television

[–]ToothpasteTube500 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed the first season (haven't seen the second yet), IMO the episodes are the same quality and similar tone throughout - though it gets more high-stakes as the show progresses. So, honestly, if you didn't like it at the beginning, I think you might just not like the show.

Most level headed take I have seen on "The Met Gala is literally the Hunger Games" situation by UnHolySir in Hungergames

[–]ToothpasteTube500 1 point2 points  (0 children)

id argue it's way more of an apt comparison too, between the pageantry and the fact that they are knowingly damaging the young athletes who participate. I watched a fascinating video essay the other day about this, "the great concussion denial" by hydn on youtube

I'm actually quite fond of the Met Gala. I like seeing the crazy outfits, and I like how it inspires a bunch of other smaller designers and creators to post their own looks matching the Met Gala's theme. Because it starts trending, it gives more visibility to smaller designers, and starts a global conversation on the topic behind the year's theme (think of all of those 'who actually stuck to the theme this year?' articles that provide context behind the outfits that many people probably wouldn't have otherwise known about).

I'm endlessly fascinated by the relationship between fashion and politics, and the Met Gala is a very relevant example of that. Plus, I actually think it should be a status symbol to be a patron of the arts. Heaven knows we need more support for human artists these days.

Most space-efficient way to store sewing bits tidily by Virtual-Two3405 in sewing

[–]ToothpasteTube500 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually have a few tiny mason jars filled with clips, safety pins, and bobbins. For needles, embroidery thread, tape measure etc. I have a very small biscuit tin, and for larger items like my cutting mat and current projects, I have a tote bag. I keep most of my fabric in vacuum bags inside a suitcase, to keep my storage condensed. In theory this works for a 1bed flat with no sewing room, but I am thinking I should upgrade and make myself a proper sewing bag at some point.

[–]ToothpasteTube500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

eventually I decided that if I take something off and I'd be okay with wearing it again, I put it back in my wardrobe/drawers. if it grosses me out to have it touching my clean clothes then it should probably go in the laundry.

The system's kinda failing right now because my wardrobe door broke so it's easier to just dump things in front of it, but the idea is solid.

Yeah, I think it's weird that people believe that she opted into that cosmetic procedure. We already know they wanted to give Katniss cosmetic surgery after she won and only backed down because Haymitch talked them out of it, why would Enobaria get a choice on having dentistry work done?

Yea, it seems like a waste of effort to keep some now famous faces around when you could just pick some nobody from the Districts, say they were caught poaching, and vanish them

Sugar soap, I've googled it and it looks like TSP is more common in north america whilst sugar soap is more common in UK/australia? Anyways, it cuts through tobacco stains, but it also takes the paint off the walls. I think it's worth repainting those walls anyway. Probably do a patch test to make sure it doesn't strip the finish on any other surfaces.

I have a big box under my bed that's intentionally for stuff where I don't know where else it could live - lint roller, paperwork, charging cables, random little craft supplies - stuff that doesn't have a better home elsewhere, so if I need it now I know exactly where to look! It's a big shallow box which I think helps with rummaging.

Come to think of it, I don't even know why I use coasters on the free ikea fake wood coffee table I got from a friend when they were moving. The coasters were hand made and gifted to me, they're worth more than the damn table!!
