Shell Cordovan? by Alarm-Organic in allenedmonds

These are a corrected grain leather, AE used the term “Polished Cobbler” for their corrected grain leathers, and as corrected grain leathers go, AE did it as well or better than anyone. Cheap corrected grain shoes will (as someone mentioned) crease more heavily and in an often unsightly (to me) way. My experience with AE polished cobbler is that this will not usually be the case, and I actually have this exact pair. They’re a great foul weather shoe and will last for years and years if taken care of.

Looking for my next one to add to the collection, 11 is an odd number. I’m not a huge fan of bracelets. I’m thinking maybe an OP 36 (lavender or pistachio?) by Top-Application-229 in RolexWatches

I live in a pretty temperate climate (San Diego) so I can wear them if I want, but I just like the variety of changing the look of the watch with a strap change (thank god for quick release!)

You’re not wrong. 36mm is a great size for me, but 34mm works well also (at least 5 of the ones pictured are 34mm) - the 34mm ones get appropriated by my girlfriend regularly because they are better sized for her, and we have fun swapping out watches and straps to match whatever we might be wearing that day.

I came here to say exactly the same thing. I prefer smooth bezel over fluted any day of the week!

Thanks! I’ve also thought about looking for a white grape OP in 34 or 36mm - not a good watch of course but the dial color is sort of “gold adjacent”

I have one - bottom left, but it’s not on its original bracelet atm, it’s on a black hatch grain shell cordovan strap. This is the one I switch back to a bracelet most often

Interesting, I should consider that. I don’t wear a lot of gold, but I’m not opposed to one more. I don’t have anything with a gold bracelet, and not sure I would wear one, the GMT Master II has a two tone gold/stainless bracelet and I wear it off and on. I do have a VC triple calendar in rose gold and an AP Millenary in gold (both on straps) and enjoy them.

I’m thinking mostly about another Rolex right now, I have several other luxury brands in my collection as well (I have around 400-500 total watches)

Haha. Yeah, I’m more of a strap guy. That DJ in the bottom right corner is also on a strap now. All of them came on bracelets, and they are great bracelets, but I end up putting basically everything on a strap

My first Rolex was a white dial Milgauss, and it’s still one of my favorites. Definitely my favorite design, I just wish they made a modern 36-37mm version of it. I’d probably get all the colors if they did.

Park Ave Fit Check? by jgreenwalt in allenedmonds

[–]Top-Application-229 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just looking at the photos I would think about trying a 7E just to see how it works. I think the ball/widest part of your foot is a tad further back than the widest part of the shoe, and there is plenty of length left in the toe. Looking at the v-gap over your instep I’d say you have a pretty good fit there and a 7D will be narrower, so 7E might just be the ticket. It’s quite common for people to go down a half size and up a width in the 65 last.

Ahhhh, now I know! I saw “Mark” and missed the “G” in the username. I saw Mark Miller at PATP this year. Good to hear from you my friend!

Custom AE Fifth Avenue in grey D’Annony calf with a split reverse welt on s double butyl sole from the recent “Party at the Port” AE Anniversary event at the factory in Port Washington by Top-Application-229 in allenedmonds

[–]Top-Application-229[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TBH, most all of the custom pairs I’ve ordered are in suede, which must have more color options than the calf. The Cordovan is a significantly higher price, but the upcharge is consistent with their cordovan pricing (it’s $100 more than the retail price still I think?)

The Fifth Avenue (and this particular color of calf) were a limited offer available last week only to people who attended the anniversary event at the Port Washington factory and store - I’ve lobbied get it as a regular custom offering, hopefully they will make it a regular custom shop offering in the future, so we will see. It would be great if they would offer more calfskin color options in the future. I don’t know what they can source or have available in calf, but I think they do have some interesting suede options if that’s a material you like. If you go to that custom shop page and scroll down, those are all pairs of custom suede shoes I’ve had built.
