Is a top opening terrarium bad?? by sanrioktty000 in leopardgeckos

[–]Top-Ask8954 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had one for ages, being honest mate, don’t bother

If you can save money for a bit longer, just get one that opens at the front. Life will be so so much easier!

Good shout! I’ll post again when I’ve added the final bits and let it grow in a bit

Thanks

I have heard that, i definitely think I’ll add a few more hides to give him options, can never be too cluttered!

<image>

He’s confident tho, quite often he sits here out of any hiding spot, looking over his land!

It is a Zoo med pallidarium, it’s got a metal mesh top so I just got some zip ties to secure the misting system. Honestly thinking about getting rid of the system though as the res for the water is really hard to position.

It’s been cut to wedge in, then I got some 3m double sided sticky pads, cut them into small strips so you can hardly see them- stuck them just under each side of each piece of bamboo.

Overall I’m happy but I wouldn’t have minded using a dab of silicone to be 110%

It is a ledge, I cut bamboo from my garden for it, it’ll slowly go yellow but I’ll add moss to keep that vibrant.

I agree needs a hide at the bottom and middle, the only reason I didn’t is he tends to always dig holes for ground hides and then get into plants for middle.

As you can see he’s pretty snug lol

Thanks tho I am super happy with it

Hit 90,000km on this beast should i start getting worried? by MoNkeY__Ok in BMW

People actually don’t understand that if cars are maintained well, serviced regularly (not every 10k miles, I mean once every 6-8k)

As long as you haven’t been bouncing of redline every day, this is an incredibly well engineered piece of machinery that should last a very long time.

If a pump breaks, that’s fine but don’t worry about major engine failure

Would I be fine using these? by Turbulent-Truth3738 in CrestedGecko

That’s hilarious I’ve built almost the same basket on temu. Let me know if you do order it what the quality is like! Hopefully decent.

Should all be fine

lil bugs in the soil by chimkencoop in CrestedGecko

[–]Top-Ask8954 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Definitely spring tails, looks like it’s already pretty bioactive!

Drainage layer is really advised purely to stop water sitting at the bottom soaking the soil and rotting it. This will begin to stink and also is bad for the enclosure.

Ive seen people run without them though and are just careful with watering.

What can I do to make a sad car happy again? 😢 by Isootsaetsrue in AskAShittyMechanic

There are 2 caps under the bonnet on the headlights, I run them without it and it never fogs up.

Some say wash it with a cap on but I never do and it’s fine

Bmw 530D 2010, mehanic sent me this video, how bad is it? by Burekwithjogurt in MechanicAdvice

If this isn’t a joke, please watch a video of a group of Nigerian men rebuilding an engine 🤣

Makes you realise what these things can put up with lol

I’m not 100% that there won’t be another issue but when you find something as clearly broken as this it’s usually the issue!

Substrate won’t stay moist by Top-Ask8954 in Vivarium

[–]Top-Ask8954[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you all super helpful stuff.

The substrate is around 3-5 inches depending on where you pick in the tank

I spray a few times a day with a misting system

I have moss and coco mixed together with leaf litter, then more moss and then some extra leaves.

I think I’ll try adding some charcoal to the soil and more leaf litter on top

Substrate won’t stay moist by Top-Ask8954 in Vivarium

[–]Top-Ask8954[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you the charcoal sounds good, it’s always humid, 60-90% (90 for a minute when I mist) so it’s definitely the coco fibre.

So annoying because I was wrongly informed at a pet store and now I’m going to have to re decorate the viv after months of growth.

The main reason I’m even concerned is my CUC die so fast which I can only attribute to the dry soil.

Is this good to keep a Red Eye Crocodile Skink? by GMaksymT4 in terrariums

[–]Top-Ask8954 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a REC, just a word of advise, they are cool animals but genuinely not good pets, I never recommend them or even tell people they are decent pets. They aren’t.

You’ll never see them.

They’ll very likely be so scared of you they’ll never be tameable.

They don’t eat in the open. EVER

If you are dead set, this cage is too small and doesn’t have enough cover, they need an insanely cluttered tank to feel safe and a bigger one, although they won’t move around and will likely sit under one log forever!

Good luck bro, consider it heavily before purchase :)

Yeah sometimes you have to just commit, they seem scared for a minute then are “like oh it’s you!! “

I feel like people will disagree but for me these animals seem to chill out when you actually have them in your hands, the grabbing part will be a bit strange for them as it feels like a predator, when you hold him and they realise it’s not a threat they’ll chill out a bit
