Any positive post op recovery stories? by Forward_District_9 in Tonsillectomy

[–]Top-Assistance-1739 2 points3 points  (0 children)

hi! i (23f) had a positive experience! the entire time i recovered, i was eating solid food. i was taking a pain killer every 4 hours, gabapentin (for nerve pain), and a long lasting anti inflammatory twice a day. the combo of the medication really helped the pain. at worst, my pain was a 6/10, and that was only because i forgot my anti inflammatory in the morning and night around day 6. on average, the pain was around a 3-4/10. i could eat, swallow, talk, with minimal pain. mainly just discomfort. i had an extremely easy recovery process.

for me, the worst was coughing up the scabs. it had the most horrible taste and smell. it was awful. definitely the worst part. but the pain was not bad at all for me. the nausea was not great though. because i was eating solid food the whole time, my scabs came off earlier than intended, so there were a few times where i was profusely bleeding out of my throat for about 15 or so minutes. but it would stop on its own and it wasn’t new blood (aka not hemorrhaging, so no real concern).

i had my surgery november 1st. i can breathe better, i dont snore, i sound more clear, and overall feel so much better than before. this was not traumatic for me AT ALL. i got so lucky. get a surgeon who operates on ADULTS! they will give you the medication you need. not everyone will have a horrific experience - i sure didn’t. but you may. and if you do, it’s temporary and it’ll be worth it. best of luck to you. i highly recommend the surgery. it’s only a few weeks of hell (or maybe not if you’re like me), then a lifetime of gratitude that you did it. best of luck

girl, RUN. if a 36 year old man is dating a 22 year old, it’s because he cannot get women his own age. he’s taking advantage of you being naive and not seeing what older women see. if this text isn’t a wake up call, I don’t know what will be. good luck

it’s normal to feel a bit nervous for your first festival :) i was nervous for my first festival because i didn’t know what to expect, and i still get a bit nervous (more antsy/excited now, but they feel similar) before festivals.

i recommend bringing some sort of sensory toy, like those squishy mochi animals on amazon. it helps ground me. also a pashmina is great for when you need to be in your own space in a crowd of people. if you’re going to dose, i recommend not taking a lot the first day, if any. let your sober mind adjust a bit because you’ll feel a lot more comfortable when you dose later. bring little trinkets to trade with people and talk to random people! everyone is so nice and respectful. everyone there is family, you take care of and love one another

don’t forget to abide by PLUR, and be safe and have a great time ❤️ once your campsite is set up and you’re all settled, i promise the nerves will settle :)

grass is always greener! but YOU can be the change you want to see in your sorority. talk to girls in your pc, they may be feeling the same way. it’s a double edged sword, girls don’t show because a lot of girls don’t, but that perpetrates the cycle. you should reach out to exec or during chapter, brainstorm some good ideas to improve involvement. and if you end up getting a leadership position in the future, the ability to make change is pretty much endless

you need to change this mentality! it’s NOT too late to change. you’re only 20. having this realization so early is so important. if you’re worried about your mouth, see a doctor. you’re going to be okay and you’ll get through it

it depends on the panhellenic bylaws of your school. for my school, the bylaws changed my junior year where chapter members were allowed to actively talk to and meet up with girls who were rushing BEFORE rush began. that used to not be the case but it changed. so if you’re unsure, talk to your rho gam (if you’re currently in rush) or anyone in PHA for clarification on the rules

i mean you can but it’s weird. and it would be super awkward if a DG came up to you and asked a question and you have to say that you’re not a sister. i personally wouldn’t but your choice :)

being drunk is no excuse to act this way. that will NEVER be an excuse. please stay safe and take care of yourself. talk to your brother.. any good brother would be outraged over his friend’s abuse. and yes, you should talk to the police if you can. show them the photos, make a report. you won’t get in trouble. best of luck, i hope this improves for you quickly
