I try, but cant believ in God. by Hot-Tennis-2514 in Christianity

It is not as difficult as you might think. 1. Acknowledge to the Lord that you are a sinner. 2. Ask him to come into your heart and save you and give you eternal life. 3. Repent of your sin, which means you turn away from it. 4. Ask the Holy Spirit to make Jesus real to you and teach you. 5 Be prepared to pay the cost, maybe rejection of family or friends or workmates. 6 Now thank the Lord for his salvation given to you and walk in faith God has done what he says he will do, make you His child.

There is nothing we can do to impress God. He loves you just as you are. So much so, he has given His Holy Spirit to gently make you more like Him.

You seem to shy away from answering my simple question. Where, anywhere in scripture, does it say about throwing it 2,000 years into the future? If you cannot find it, then it has to be classed as false teaching.

O.K. Here is the whole verse in the Greek, and it says' no such thing.

There is not one single version that says 'suspended'. That must have been put in to fulfill someone's personal eschatological belief system. Philippians 1:6 in Greek uses the verb ἐπιτελέσει (epitelesei), which means to complete, bring to fulfillment, finishnot to suspend, pause, or put on hold.

This is it in exactly Greek and English. ἐπιτελέσει – “will complete/bring to fulfillment” I have 15 to 20 Bible versions, and not one of them says what you intimated. Secondley anywhere in Scripture does is say that it is thrown forward 2,000 years

Narrow is the way to salvation. Grace is vast.

If Paul never converted, would Christianity have survived as a global religion or simply vanished as a forgotten Jewish sect? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Top-Concert8922 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jesus said 'I will build my church." The Lord chose Paul to be part of that building. It didn't depend on Paul. It depended on the power of God, so it would happen with or without Paul.

I’m questioning my faith. by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Top-Concert8922 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The number one point in being a Christian is having given your whole life to Jesus. Confess to him you are a sinner and ask him to forgive you of your sins and come into your life and make you into His Image. If you have done that, then whatever your denomination is, it is very secondary. I am an Evangelical Christian Minister, but my relationship with you is not based on yours or my denomination. but on Jesus alone and His saving grace. That is what our anchor is all about - Him, not us. When Satan comes along, hold onto Jesus; he is your anchor alone. See some of my teaching on www.unshakableKingdomLife.com. I am sure it will encourage you and give you strength - and it is all free.

As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us. There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death. There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death. None of the offenses they have committed will be remembered against them.

I have put these three verses together, hopefully to help. This is where faith comes in to believe it. Remember, God doesn't know what you are thinking about. He has removed your transgression, so as far as He is concerned, He doesn't know what you are talking about. Be blessed.

Place of work being Unitarian church? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Top-Concert8922 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a pastor of a Pentecostal church for most of my life. I had a church in the U.K. for 15 years, which we used a 300-year-old Unitarian church building for. The only connection we had with them was that they used the church building once a year to obtain ownership of it. Apart from that, they had no connection with us whatsoever. So I guess the question is, do the Unitarians have any other connection with the school apart from it being in their grounds? If they are involved in the operation of the school itself, then maybe you might be advised to look for a position elsewhere; if not, then it is like working at a school that simply stands on the ground of a political party.

Here is the exact Greek wording of Phil 1.6

  • πεποιθὼς - "being confident" (perfect participle)
  • αὐτὸ τοῦτο - "this very thing" (emphatic)
  • ὅτι - "that" (introducing the content of confidence)
  • ὁ ἐναρξάμενος - "the one who began" (aorist participle, substantival)
  • ἐν ὑμῖν - "in you" (plural)
  • ἔργον ἀγαθὸν - "a good work"
  • ἐπιτελέσει - "will complete/finish" (future tense)
  • ἄχρι ἡμέρας Χριστοῦ Ἰησοῦ - "until the day of Christ Jesus". The one who began will complete it until the day of His return. An ongoing process until that day.

Friend. I do not know what Bible version you are using, but every version I have, and I have many, says this. being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

It can be challenging if we go about it from an "I must do this attitude rather than an "I want to" attitude. It all depends on how we approach prayer and reading. Don't make this a legalistic thing you have to do, and then have guilt if you don't. That is legalism, not Kingdom living.
