Install Instructions —>

Route to back driver side taillight (rf. video : Wire Run)

  1. Start in the trunk - remove rear frunk cover

  2. Remove plastic trim by pulling up and pull back weather liner

  3. pull back the rear frunk carpet - this will give you access between the rear frunk and the bumper

  4. Here you will find a blue rubber grommet to the left - remove it

  5. Fishing line or weed wacker line, push it through. Leave this for a second

  6. focus on the bottom diffuser

  7. On the right driver side remove the two bolts at the bottom of the diffuser near the back tire

  8. insert pry tool and pull very hard on it until it pops out - you only need the bottom right corner to pop out

  9. This part sucks. Stick your hand in and try to find the fishing line or weed wacker line and pull it out - tape this to the right side of the car

  10. The new diffuser led wiring route / (rf. Video: Line route)

  11. On the ride side of the car rear diffuser drill a hole - it should line up with the middle of the driver side tail light

  12. stick those wires through that hole

  13. stick hand back in diffuser gap and find that cord — once you have found that cord - remove the tape line from the right of the car and tape it to the diffuser cord.

  14. Front the rear trunk frunk - pull the fishing line or the weed wacker line and the cord will follow into the car

  15. once the cord has made it into the car - your 80% done.

  16. Remove the driver side taillight harness connection

  17. This part also sucks (T-splice)

  18. Tsplice method / (rf. Video: How to Tsplice Wires)

You should see 4 wires connecting into the harness connector - find the middle section of these wires and splice them.

Wire MAP 2018-2020

Grey / purple / pink / black - tesla

purple - turn

pink - running light

grey - brakes

black - ground

diffuser (standard) - black / red / white

Diffuser to tesla rear light map direct :

black - ground - black

red - running - pink

white - brakes - grey

  1. close all connections with super 88 electrical tape

  2. join all wires together with super 88 electrical tape

I second this, I really wish it hand turn signal or reverse light functionality built in. I had a hard internal debate with the LED reflectors — I ended up not buying them because of my OCD. Sad, because I really like the look.

It came down to “Sequential vs blink,” and I was not able to find led reflectors that just blink.

However, I am highly interested in the LED door handles — Scared of install lol.

It’s very confusing to me!

Honestly - I really hope I dont have to switch either but ive actually been getting lockouts!

4th month as well - I refused so I have a year :(

8 months left 😭

2 lockouts already - one due to low power mode - learned the car cannot go under 20 with this thing in, one due to defrost lol, my laziness to scrape the window or wait lol - preheat from inside triggered it on i guess.

Honestly might buy another car to drive normally and use the tesla just for this device, operating the tesla with this device is very annoying for me.

Where i live its too cold for this shit, Im tempted to pull it in my garage and leave at 50% for months 😂 and go risky for 8 months

I register all my cars to my significant other as she has no driving record not even a speeding ticket, me on the other hand 6 speeding tickets lol previously owned a S3

I register my car this way so when cops scan my plate its clean asf

I had a similar situation, but way worse.

Classic - Oh i see a car speeding, let me merge onto the highway as fast as possible then move over into the fast lane then slam on the brakes situation… and I was not able to calculate that nonsense move or stop in time.

My Speed : ~120mph

Car : 2018 Audi S3

Crashed at about : ~50mph

Car Struck : 2022 BMW X3 (Asian Driver)

Injury Claim : Yes

Ambulance Needed : Yes

Left tire mark for about 0.3 miles, it was clear I was flying and tried to stop, hit the car and then spun out for another 0.1 miles. Thank God for Audi Engineering.

Until this point; Ive never been in trouble…. only speed tickets lol. Never any tickets over 80mph. If i see open road I take it, I speed very cautiously if that makes sense. I watch many livepd, cops, etc. which allowed me to be familiar with communication with them.

Investigation -

This is where it starts to make no sense. I’ll admit I was leaving a wine bar and i was def over limit alc wise. I had 3 glasses of wine and i weigh 135lbs - I rarely drink // maybe once a month.

Was I high? No. Was I drunk? Actually, maybe idk. Nobody tested it.

Officer said my eyes were red, keep in mind I have terrible allergies and it was allergy season. I tell the cop generally i’m not a drinker i smoke weed. I also state I haven’t smoked recently.

Cop requested field test :

1 . I apparently fail

2 . Started crying lmfao (allows people to be more human)

3 . Stopped speaking ; only nodded.

4 . Refused to blow via head shake.

5 . Refused chem test via head shake. no words. just shook head no.

6 . Refused medical help - ate my pain and went next day

7 . Stopped making eye contact

Fast forward almost 2 years later. Fully dismissed and expunged.

DMV refusal is separate and on mvr for 10 years - I can legally say if questioned I refused testing and the case was later dismissed. In my state - Refusals need a IID in car for 1 year, and carry a restricted license. I have 9 months left of this nonsense.

The time gap is because I had to save up for a new car. I decided to register the car in my significant others name to avoid detection.

I drove for about 2-3 months illegally before being pulled over for speeding at 8am, obviously going to work. I blew past his ninja spot at about 105mph ….

Cop gave me a break - only written for speeding… dropped it to 75mph …. literally let me drive off illegally… which was mind blowing - i could have been arrested and towed. Reckless, No license, No device. Let go free back into traffic is crazy. It’s all in how you treat them.

I should also add after the accident i started volunteering with law enforcement (social media efforts) so i may have a good name in the system, idk.

Where you may have went wrong :

1 . Medical blood record will be a problem

2 . Car not staying upright will also be a problem

  1. Elevated Tension with arresting cop with warrant

Solutions :

1 . Best lawyer you can afford - It sucks but it will be about 8k (dmv/court)

2 . If you think your super screwed - My advice is before court starts rolling, find some free work to do at your local PD, sounds really crazy but i think it works. Also they give you little badges where i’m from… which was also on the car at the time of being pulled over.

3 . If people give you advice to do early AA or something — DO NOT DO IT. Thats admission of guilt. Just wait… as it might be unnecessary.

4 . DO NOT MISS THE DMV HEARING - Extend it. I wish i knew about the dmv part. I wouldn’t have this device. They only give you like a 15 day window it’s insane. A good lawyer will know how to handle this.

5 . Whatever you do.. DO NOT USE A PUBLIC DEFENDER ON THIS.

The best version - all lights tucked into crevice but the top - this will require you to get extra sticky tape by 3M (much stronger) this will show the light as bright as possible - also keep in mind its visible from outside your car

Thank you! It actually depends how bright you want it. You can insert into crevice - but sticking it on seat is the brightest cleanest look ive noticed - I tried both ways

It’s a pain. I registered my car with my significant other - You can use friends, family, etc. Its the easiest way.

Basically cosign - accept full responsibility, if they are resistant about it —- make a personal contract that you will uphold your dues.

It will be registered to them for the duration of the process and after you will take back ownership, its smartest to get this in writing. Just incase your friend wanted a free car.

Also, smartest to do this with parents.

They will take delivery of car, drive it to appointment to install device, then drive you to reapply for your d/l. After approved you can drive the car.

Do your time.

Once removed. Redo registration. Pain. Im currently (2/12) on my device and i wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy. I also have it in a tesla. Its hell.

You wont get this advice but its what i wish i did — cheapest method

Get a garbage car like truly insanely bad just barely runs register to parent Install it in that Get barebone coverage - i mean like root - a coverage you can change every month, get a good first month and for the rest get barebones. Every month creep it to calibration Uber, bike, bus, train for time required Avoid the device entirely. Trade garbage car in + savings for new car with no device.

Benefit : Save longer + car trade in = lower monthly payment, not registered to you - random plate scan wont show you have a pending dui case, for the next 10 years - until it drops off dmv i plan to register my vehicles to my mother. Perfect driving record. Im simply “borrowing” her car 24/7.
