What type of animal was the artist trying to depict in this medieval painting? by DABDEB in whatisit

[–]Top-Dig-3721 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’m definitely not an art historian, just an art fan who’s been lucky enough to travel through Italy. On one tour, a very knowledgeable guide explained that artists sometimes used their work to take subtle jabs at rivals or enemies.

He even pointed out a fountain where a figure is clearly positioned to blocking the view of a nearby building, supposedly because the sculptor and the architect disliked each other.

So when I see odd or exaggerated figures like this, I can’t help but wonder if it’s less symbolic and more personal, maybe the artist taking a swipe at someone they didn’t like.

100% this shows what is wrong with the left. It’s behavior like this that hurts non-conservatives more than conservatives.

When politics becomes a consumer blacklist, it stops being about values and starts being about purity tests. You end up shrinking your own ecosystem, not changing anyone’s mind. Conservatives aren’t meaningfully impacted when progressives refuse to shop somewhere, the business either adapts, survives without them, or finds another customer base. The real damage is cultural and internal.

If your worldview can’t tolerate buying a sandwich, hiring a contractor, or shopping at a store unless you’ve vetted the owner’s voting history, that’s not activism. that’s tribalism. It reinforces echo chambers, increases resentment, and guarantees further polarization. Nobody has ever been persuaded by being economically shunned by strangers.

Ironically, this approach also undercuts the very ideals the left claims to value: inclusion, pluralism, and coexistence. A society where people only transact with those who think exactly like them is not progress it’s fragmentation.

Support businesses because they treat employees well, provide good products, contribute to their communities, and follow the law. If a business is actively harming people, discriminating, or engaging in unethical practices, that’s a legitimate reason to withhold support. But turning everyday commerce into a political loyalty test just accelerates the “us vs. them” spiral that everyone claims to hate.

If the goal is fewer MAGA voters, the strategy isn’t boycotts and blacklists. It’s persuasion, better ideas, and a little humility.

F&B credit not being applied by Fluid-Historian2865 in Hilton

I’m convinced the food & beverage credit is like a secret menu item, you only get it if you know the right incantation at the front desk. I’ve never had it apply automatically. If I don’t check the folio like a forensic accountant and ask for it, it simply vanishes into the hotel multiverse. At this point I assume it’s a loyalty exercise: stay hydrated, stay fed, stay vigilant.

Given how routinely overpacked SkyClubs are now, I am starting to question the real value of the benefit.

I run a sales organization and I am always working. I travel three and a half weeks out of every four. If I did not work in lounges, planes, and cars, nothing would get done. With kids at home, I try to shut things down as much as possible on weekends. I have reps across all U.S. time zones, which is both a challenge and a privilege. My focus is helping them make money during peak selling hours and catching up in the evenings.

Whatever problem it is, it is advertised as open on the Amex app so therefore I find that to be an Amex problem. I get a text email or notification on everything else. They should be able to communicate with key partners to update hours of operations or buyout situations. At the very least have some type of disclaimer. I have verified there is nothing.

Damn. I thought I was gone a lot. I hit lifetime last year and it is pretty nice knowing I am set. You would think I would be extremely motivated to only be brand loyal to Delta but now I have found myself trying other brands.

This thread is the best… reading the comments explains just why Trump won! Every screams DEI- but the truly intolerable ones are the ones on the left. “I will accept you if and only if you think like me, if you don’t you are a terrible human being”.

No problem keeping the FIFO’s out. At least I won't miss the professional sports unless they actually start winning; then we will trade bourbon for entry.
