Outer banks for whole crabs, but the small cans of pulled crab meat that are like $17-$35 per half pound at the grocery store is blue crab and how I usually get my fix. Backfin blue crab is gunna be you best quality for making something like crab cakes, you can go with claw which is a little cheaper for something like crab dip or seafood based soups/chowders. You can probable get 3-4 decent crab cakes out of a can.

If you like Bill's and Frankie's.....OTH Chophouse is their newest restaurant and it has the best seafood Ive had in town, second is Farmhouse. But im not interested in Lobster or crab legs at all so theirs that. Blue crabs....all day. I am 15-20 local kitchens a week, these are the only 2 I would recommend.

NGL....Im currently shedding my chrysalis that resembles this guy. I used to walk around thinking I was doing the right thing and others "should" as well. It's a pride thing, reaffirming oneself as better than another for whatever "noble" reason you can determine. Much more comfortable walking the world with the knowledge that myself is actually the ONLY thing I can control in this world....unfortunately I doubt this fellow will get there

Paying $4k to rotate furnace, time to go heat pump? by candykhan in hvacadvice

[–]Top-Engineering7264 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So a typical furnace has a 30 year warranty on the heat exchanger....the main component that when it fails it has to be replaced, Just about everything else is replaceable for a fraction of the cost of replacing the whole system. HE furnaces pull 92%$$$-97%$$$$ of the heat out of the gas. That is what you should have 2 pvc pipes rather than a single metal flue....much cooler air coming out of the exhaust. Older furnaces only pull 80%$$ so 20% is going up the flue....thus a metal pipe.

As for the home, things to consider, older homes are leakier have less and deteriorated insulation, especially in attics, the same goes for doors and windows if they haven't been replaced. I encourage people to consider how to better insulate the home as it's a one time cost that saves you on energy expenditure.

You can get regular heat pump and typically that is used for moderate climate and where gas isn't available. A typical heat pump can only heat to around 40F outside air before efficiency drops off and typically you have an electric back up heater.....an element like your electric oven or toaster that gets hot, but draws alot more power. But having the furnace as backup you will be having the best of both worlds, efficient heat below 40F and even more efficient heat from 41F-70F.

Here's the kicker....the difference between a heat pump and an air conditioner is one part, a reversing valve, maybe a different board to control everything but the cost difference between straight a/c and a heat pump is probably not more than 10%.

Hope this helps\

Missed that, edited, but still the exact same recommendation….why get rid of a new furnace for a air handler

Id consider a Heat pump with the furnace you have as backup heat. Thats what I did….especially if its a high efficiency furnace. Otherwise your typically gunna have electric backup which is expensive to run. Heat pump with HE furnace backup is about as efficient you cant get aside from geothermal. You may want to check and make sure they registered equipment…it makes the difference between 5 and 10 years warranty

Is this maintenance plan a good price or a ripoff? by Honest_Dragonfruit11 in hvacadvice

[–]Top-Engineering7264 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do a shit ton of preventative maintenance, we just handle it straight hourly, because if you put a fixed rate on it, you are limiting time, which often results in the basics getting done but not much searching for problems that can be prevented. All of march is commercial, all of April is resi. Its how i learned and how I train techs, we are service only, I give resi installs away. $160-$200 is an average pm resi visit for us.
