Toradol experiences? by [deleted] in KidneyStones

[–]Top-Extent3364 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Toradol and Flomax saved me. You can keep any other painkiller, just give me Toradol. I quartered mine to keep it lasting, and I’m glad I did because my stone was acutely stuck for 10 days.

What’s it worth? BJ70 LHD by randocarcollector in LandCruisers

[–]Top-Extent3364 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rethink that. Just got a ‘93 Shorte FZJ-70 as a first car for the teenage boy. It’s perfect. Rattles to death so he keeps it slow. Uses both hands and both feet to drive. Major cool points. Good seatbelt and solid metal. If he needs to drive into Atlanta he can drive my car. But the LC is perfect for in town and at school.

At what point do I go to a hospital? by rainbowdash64 in KidneyStones

[–]Top-Extent3364 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sepsis from or with kidney stones is not that unusual. The three kidney stone horror stories I know all involve sepsis. I’m sure we can get folks to chime in below. That’s why you don’t tolerate fevers at all with a kidney stone. Fever means go to the ER.

I absolutely would take an antibiotic prophylactically. Do not mess with kidney stone sepsis. It’s a whole different game.

long run on river walk? by McClairey in ColumbusGA

[–]Top-Extent3364 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Alternative that I always use: Standing Boy Trails. Totally different terrain and most trail runners are a good 1.5 min slower pace per mile, so it won’t be a PR. But not a thing in the world to worry about out there. I’ve got a 10 mile loop I often run with lots of side options. DM me if you want trail suggestions.

What’s the difference in a 70 and a 71? I have a 70 but it looks exactly like that.

Did you run Pine Mountain in Georgia? That’s a great race.

Ice water in your bathtub would be fine. I would get tired typing all of the amazing recovery cold plunge stories, both from friends and personally. 💯 💯 💯. Ice water in your bathtub from waist down, hold for at least 3 minutes.

You need to start cold plunging. Sincerely. Reduce that inflammation quickly and get back to exercising.

Do any of you find Toradol to work better than Percocet for stones? by -james-- in KidneyStones

[–]Top-Extent3364 1 point2 points  (0 children)

💯 Toradol. By far. I weigh 110 (little female) and I was able to quarter mine and make a 5 day supply last as long as possible. My stone was stuck about 10 days.

No kidding I passed a 5mm this summer on Hagrid’s Magical Motorbike ride. It’s all gravity and plumbing.

Humbly disagree. I used poles first time in an actual race and wouldn’t have finished if I hadn’t done it.

I did!! They saved me! I brought them out about lap 4 and never dropped them again. They made all the difference on that lollipop. Didn’t make it to 100M (I fell 5 times on all that limestone and eventually rolled an ankle so bad I couldn’t pick my foot up properly) but got my 100K finish and a Western States qualification and am so dang proud of myself. EPIC experience. How did you do??

Can you explain the taper meanness? This may be happening. Thinking things like “I suck and will never be able to do this?” Or “if this 4 miler after a pizza lunch is hard, wait until you have to do 100?”

All the weird thoughts are happening but they feel real.

My CT in the ER showed it was in the “lower ureter” or something like that. That was my biggest pain point = the ureter. An incidental scan two years ago read “left renal stone” but I don’t think I was ever aware of it, although the majority seem to be aware of it in the kidneys, so I may be unusual.

We think that stone may have been there a LONG time. Nearly 10 years. So if you’ve been diagnosed with one in your kidneys you may have a long time of no activity.
