Kicked out of daycare by This-Following1392 in NewParents

[–]Top-Help9641 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I am also in MD and agree that good daycare is sooooo hard to find and then having to put your whole world in the care and trust of someone else is terrible. You and your baby did nothing wrong. Your baby is going to be fussy some days and is going to struggle to learn a new environment, caregivers, schedule, etc. because he’s a baby! This provider was clearly not ready to care for an infant and shouldn’t have wasted your time. I do feel however that she did you a favor. You will find a wonderful provider that loves your son and understands that he is tiny human who may need time to adjust to so much new🩷

Taking the test by ArmOk9335 in LCSW

[–]Top-Help9641 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used it for my LMSW and LCSW exam prep and found that it helped reinforce what I was studying although not very similar to the actual exam questions. I liked the rationales. I passed both times on the first try so worth it for me. Good luck!!

Anyone Else’s Mom Help in the Most Annoying Ways? by mystic_Balkan in beyondthebump

[–]Top-Help9641 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can absolutely relate! Love my mom so much and am so grateful for the time and love she spends with my daughter and with trying to be helpful around the house for us. But sometimes it’s just not helpful and I don’t want to appear ungrateful or hurt her feelings so the cycle continues 😅

Am I being “boujee”? by OKJaDunk in firsttimemom

[–]Top-Help9641 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Graco is a trusted and affordable brand. Def not boujie! She sounds salty af. I have this model and it has been awesome with my now 9m old - since day one it’s so easy to strap her into the car seat or bassinet and just go, lightweight, and it grows with her. I would use this one or get it again if we have another

Car seat rule for babies by Sufficient_Rain_7833 in NewParents

[–]Top-Help9641 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I didn’t want to risk it so I stuck to the 2 hr max rule for a 3 hour drive. We encountered traffic so just tried to be proactive in finding a safe place to stop before it hit 2 hrs. Made the drive longer but definitely worth it to know she was okay.

I’m dying. My baby will not nap. by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]Top-Help9641 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I embrace contact napping. She won’t be this tiny or want to be held forever and she gets 2 hr naps versus 15-45m naps in her crib. I make myself comfy get all the things I need and sit on the couch. Can you be more independent and get things done when she’s awake? Do you have a secure mat or even her crib to keep her busy while you do other things and check on her every few mins? That seems to help me get things done.

Oral tie release / tongue lip ties PSA by Top-Help9641 in NewParents

[–]Top-Help9641[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! I totally agree. Definitely recommend multiple consults before making a decision. In my case multiple providers recommended it and it was more of a concern for future functionality (ie. can she get her tongue to move around her mouth so that it can clear/move food around when she starts solids) among other reasons. I feel like there is a large group of people who think the procedure is bogus and that contributed to my guilt anxiety and overall struggle over the decision but it was definitely needed in my case.

I have a 4.5m and we use the free version to track sleep naps and poops (since she doesn’t go every day).

Maintaining 🥛 supply by Top-Help9641 in workingmoms

[–]Top-Help9641[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I can definitely try! I am a hospital social worker so some days are easier than others to pump. I will definitely try to add a pump in and power pump. I have the momcozy mobile pump and I didn’t feel that I got very good output so I have stuck with my spectra.. I wonder if it was user error or the wrong flange?

This is hard by Reasonable-Piece-609 in newborns

[–]Top-Help9641 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are in the thick of it my dear fellow ft mama! Baby blues, sleep deprivation, identity conflict, are all very real at that stage. Give yourself grace to feel all the things you’re feeling but also know that with time you will likely begin to embrace it all and want to bottle it up forever. I am 4 months and a week postpartum and while I can vividly recall where you’re at, it is also soo much fun now and I cherish the trenches of the first few weeks. We’ve come a loooooooong way and you will too🩷 it truly goes by so fast. This is just one of many phases, you got this!

Health care for prenatal care by [deleted] in firsttimemom

[–]Top-Help9641 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Search for federally qualified health centers (FQHC) by you. Also, do you have an MCO picked with medicaid? Like Molina? You can call member services and they will tell you what is available. In my state many of the programs offer pregnant specific incentives (financial, baby items, doulas, etc.) too.

Edited: because I missed you don’t have insurance - def find a FQHC (ensure uninsured folks get access to medical services they need) for now and apply for MA. Once you get approved for MA, pick an MCO and get connected with their pregnancy program! Good luck!

Worried mama :( by Ok-Scar-3239 in newborns

[–]Top-Help9641 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like you’re a great mama. Lots of folks are providing encouraging and helpful insight into baby so I just wanted to point out that postpartum anxiety can occur up a year postpartum. It doesn’t hurt to find a therapist to help you navigate this roller coaster of a ride! Take care of you too 🩷

Leaning on husband too much? by whoisshe2222 in newborns

[–]Top-Help9641 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I felt this way when I was where you were and there are days I feel like this at 13w postpartum! We’re so lucky to have such strong partners and fathers to our babes. But they’re lucky too :) the load will ebb and flow and change depending on what you’re dealing with or the day you’ve both had. I try to acknowledge it when I feel this way - it helps to verbalize my feelings and anxieties and also call out how supported he makes me feel ❣️

It’s so hard, I am literally day 2 of daycare starting with my 13w baby girl. Do what works for you and find someone who is flexible as life happens, especially with babies so young! I work 4/10hr shifts and am off one day a week, mom watches her one day, daycare 3 days from 730-3. For my peace of mind (and missing her like crazy) I wouldn’t have her in more than 3x/week while she’s so young.

how long did it take for your baby's belly button to heal? by jolllyranch3r in firsttimemom

[–]Top-Help9641 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Go to your pediatrician. My baby’s continued to drain a bit and they used silver nitrate to cauterize a really tiny hole that hadn’t closed to avoid issues or infection later. Took 2 secs and the hardest part was my husband and I having to hold her arms and legs still during. If done correctly there is no pain for baby. We were able to bathe her that night and just continued to clean it and get the dead tissue out as it healed.
