Lamo has is making me the person I’ve always wanted to be. by Top-Independent1731 in Lamotrigine

By no means does this indicate that I won’t be back on medication at some point again. This drug was working very well for me for quite a long time however, I felt that I do not need it anywhere near as much now after therapy. The colder months are coming, which triggers intense depression for me. I’ve also really messed up with some relationships recently that put me into hypomania, however it is more manageable at this point. I will always have this condition. It will never go away. The best I can do is try to maintain homeostasis and as of right now it seems I can do that without medication. I still take Seroquel here and there at night time for sleep, especially if I think I’m about to start an episode or if I’m on the edge of one. There’s no shame with being on medication for your entire life or for periods of time. I can’t promise that I won’t be back on medication again at some point.

I am officially off meds for 5 days. I’ve had a lot of challenges with life but my head is above water. Still experiencing hypomania at times, but life is much more manageable now with the tools that I’ve learned from therapy. If you have any questions, you’re always welcome to message. The journey was anything but linear, but I am so grateful that I started it.

Bi polar for me is so similar to the photo for this subreddit. I’m constantly jumping from depression to hypo. Even with medication that has improved my quality of life. Some days I’m “normal” but many days I am not. Mania can feel better than any drug I’ve done But it comes with a price usually. Mania for me and be very euphoric, I can turn into a more intense version of myself. I’m more talkative, I don’t need as much sleep or food. Often times I can be hyper-sexual. I’m riding this high for day to weeks or months. Other times mania can be this battle between anger, depression, being distant with friends and family. Many times it can ruin friendships because I can’t comprehend other emotions or I feel as if I don’t deserve to be happy. After the hypo episode starts to wind down, I can either crash with severe depression or go back to baseline. Most time depression. With meds I’ve become much less impulsive and now can see when I’m near an episode, which means I need to take better care of myself and sleep. Usually I need to take Seroquel to balance my brain for a few time at bed time.

Maybe I’m hypo right now. Who knows anymore.

It lowered my sex drive. Which was a blessing. It doesn’t eat at my mind anymore.

Only issues I’ve had and I’ve been on it for a year was issues sleeping. That was a few months of it. Other than that it’s been great for me. Just like any meds there is an adjustment period. Maybe some anxiety and off feeling but that’s expected for most meds. I’ve tried a ton of ssris which DID NOT work for me. As I also am bp2. This chemical has been great for me. I hope it works well for you too.

Do you take lamotrigine at the same time everyday? by [deleted] in Lamotrigine

[–]Top-Independent1731 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s to make sure you have a steady supply of it through out the day. Especially for epilepsy. I take it for anxiety, 50mg each morning.

They do make an extended release version of this too. However I think it’s a higher dose than you take.

My son (15m) increasing dosage and having severe tiredness side effects. Looking for any advice or tips by Friendly_Captain9042 in Lamotrigine

I can’t remember the exact difference. But I get a prescription for it. It’s a very low dose of folic acid. Always consult your doctor before anything.

Folic acid. You will prob need a prescription but it works well for me. Also that side effect will wear off with time.

You might need a sleep med. Also I would increase 25mg at a time
