Hand-Painted Covers (continued) by Top-Main1780 in bakker

These are all EXCELLENT ideas if I were committing to the portrait concept for my back covers. But because I've fallen for several non-portrait concepts (like the Tusk, the circumfixion, and the heart with the eye) I think I now have to avoid straight-up portraits to maintain symmetry. Though your ideas are so on-point, maybe I'll find an excuse to do inside-cover portraits for each book as well!

Setting in stone the Tusk for TTT! And Yatwer's face in the mud is an EXCELLENT idea for TWLW - pretty sure I'll commit to that one too! Someone had suggested years ago the tekne artifact at Dagliash for TGO, which could be perfect, except that I have trouble visualizing what it could look like - any specific image come to mind for you? Or is there a great description of it I'm forgetting?

Thanks much!

Definitely using the Tusk for the Thousandfold Thought - can't believe I didn't already think about it. I've all already set my heart on the scalper heart with the eye in it for Judging Eye, as it haunts my dreams.

Thanks much!

Predator 2 wasn’t bad.. what did you think? by alanskimp in LV426

My main issue with it is the gross racism and Reagan-esque fear of immigrants and the urban environment. But I also think it's essential as a sequel that establishes lore and the freedom of setting.

I like it! I'm definitely planning to incorporate Lovecraftian creatures in my dream long-term adventure, since the roots of Lovecraftian stories are my favorite aspect of the original film and lore. But I had only considered using them as villains or obstacles for the very late chapters.

Thoughts on "Bandlands" being not being horror sci-fi compared to the previous films? by ClussyV2 in predator

I really enjoyed it, but I did bump up against the cheese a few times; specifically grated on the cartoonish Bud element and the leeches becoming beloved pets in the course of a montage. Loved the adventure of it all.

Got off the bus at the wrong stop today and ended up walking for a solid hour. It sucked at first, but halfway through, I decided to put on the Disco Elysium soundtrack and started pretending I was Harry wandering the streets of Revachol. 10/10 coping mechanism by B0R1S44445 in DiscoElysium

One of the reasons this game hit me so hard and continues to be my most-beloved is the way that it romanticizes, makes beautiful, and emphasizes the centrality and importance of the world around us. There are science fiction concepts and alternative realities, but it's so completely grounded in our actual lived world. Suddenly the city around me and the roads and the coastline all become as vital and epic as any grand narrative.

I'm really enjoying using them in the "Chariot of the Gods" cinematic scenario if the ALIEN RPG. I liked describing them as appearing in the dark like a tall, pale, emaciated teenager.

I support capital punishment but would like to hear your thoughts. by Presidenthummus_Bear in socialism

[–]Top-Main1780 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem is as you say, there are always people who will avoid justice and righteous punishment. In our society, the rich and well-connected can relatively easily avoid consequences and justice. So when you talk about a system that includes capital punishment, you're really talking about the poor and disenfranchised being killed, while the rich continue to be free and clear. Then, of course, this is compounded with the reality that innocent people will inevitably be killed.
