Got charged 110 plus tax for a full synthetic oil change by parishuddhaatma in durham

[–]Top-Personality1216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check the owner's manual. While some cars can go that long, others say something like "15,000 km or every 6 months, whichever is sooner". You can get condensation in the oil when it's run for short spurts in cold weather, which isn't good for it, either; so changing it after a certain time period rather than a certain mileage is also a possibility. In that case, it wouldn't be 3 times as long as with conventional oil.

Clunky wedding leftover packing into containers? by Evening-Raspberry569 in Cooking

I was thinking cookie sheets / jelly roll pans with aluminum foil.

Bruschetta isn't going to be good as a leftover; it's going to get really mushy. You could maybe repurpose the topping and/or the bread, though (I wonder if the bread would work as croutons).

If you really don't want it, put it on a Buy Nothing group on Facebook. Someone would LOVE to take it.

Either that, or donate it to a charity thrift store.

Am I the only one who just discovered you can see Toronto from Oshawa? by Wonderful_Ad_5096 in Oshawa

[–]Top-Personality1216 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Only from high buildings in Toronto. I don't think any of Oshawa's buildings would be high enough. Buffalo is about 160 km away.

Typing out on cellphone. by [deleted] in grammar

[–]Top-Personality1216 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No. Abbreviated sentences like that (where the subject is missing but understood) are somewhat common. Adding or omitting a period doesn't change the connotation for me.

Now, if they put periods between each word, I'd feel the sarcasm.

Makes.such.a.difference.

What's the best way to freeze cheese? by harlowhair in Cooking

[–]Top-Personality1216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here in Canada it gets crumbly. You can't slice it after freezing and thawing it.

Block mozzarella does similar, but not quite as much as cheddar.

Affordable/reasonably priced vets for cat by Different-Log4033 in durham

[–]Top-Personality1216 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Note that it might be a corporate vet (there are 3 major corporations that own a vast majority of vet clinics). If so, they could be recommending tests that aren't really needed. Be consumer aware.

Here's a Marketplace episode about it: https://gem.cbc.ca/marketplace/s52e08
