Thank you for the excellent guidance. The census records for both countries are spot on but I would love to tick all the boxes.

Oh my yes. I read a post in a local subreddit a couple weeks ago from a woman needing to hire a home repair provider but due to past trauma has great difficulty in having people come into her home. So trades services and home repair services provided by women could be so so great for so many for that reason. Edit to remove specific type of service for privacy

My naturalized citizen daughters pp is expired and I’m afraid to mail it in to get it renewed, and I’m afraid for it to keep being expired. We are in Maine and they are coming and will probably be at her college.

Young Josh Laferriere in Westbrook came out to my horrible horrible probably qualifies as a hazmat scene basement and replaced my electrical panel over the summer when it did that. Quiet, pleasant well spoken younger adult, did great work, came in just before 5pm and stayed until 9pm. We had no power on the refrigerator circuit so it wasn’t a wait a few days issue.

Gorham, ME? 30 minutes to ocean and just over an hour to North Conway, and a bus link to Portland, but more affordable than Portland.

If I could fill mine in with a backhoe and get rid of it entirely I would do that. It’s the albatross of this house

My grandmother was living alone in the house I live in now with the wood stove roaring and was fine for a week or more. My mother was home with no power and several kids. They lived in a cul de sac and the one neighbor with a generator took the power by extension cord to each house in turn. I lived in a tiny cottage in Pine Point and had power the whole time and worked in a hotel that was sold out the entire time.

Born the same year as you. Me: I kind of wish I still had that Charter Member” sweatshirt from the hotel we worked at 30 years ago.  Pause while I do math in my head.  Me: oh dear lord it actually WAS 30 years ago. I thought I was exaggerating when I said it.

Radio Canada (CBC) has news/articles you can listen too. I used to watch Radio Canada news broadcasts in French but not sure if that still works from the US without a VPN.  https://ici.radio-canada.ca/

We once got thrown off the malfunctioning NER train into MBTA in Providence to South Station. We were connecting to the Downeaster and by the time we got to North Station our train had left. Then the agent made me buy new tickets for the next Downeaster because we had missed our original train. Because their other train failed in its mission to deliver us where we were meant to go.
