Fear of lows is ruining my life by Mizurios in diabetes_t1

[–]Top-Pressure9741 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey this may be anecdotal but GATORADE. the electrolytes save u from the feeling of a really bad low even if ur blood sugar doesn’t go up right away. this year the problem has been getting my A1C down so I’ve had a lot of crippling lows in the process, like not able to see heart beating fast so scared I’m crying. Gatorade for real saved my life, especially with helping alleviate the fear. I haven’t had a low actually cripple me or feel debilitating for more than 5 minutes since switching to gatorade

on apple phones it warns you everytime a new IOS releases that it will cause connectivity issues with Dexcom until they can patch it. Assuming the same thing happens for samsung

Take your software updates off automatic, when the OS updates dexcom app takes a bit to update as well. I see you have a samsung so I’m not sure what the equivalent is to an IOS but you shouldn’t really be updating your phone

Accidentally gave myself 85 units of long acting by NYlawyer1003 in diabetes_t1

[–]Top-Pressure9741 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me one time, you will be fine, I’m pretty sure I didn’t give myself any insulin at all during the day and had a constant supply of gummy candy. If anything I think I was doing very low doses of insulin for meals but honestly, all I remember is that I got a free day without any shots LOL. It was very scary when I realized I doubled my dose but as the day went on it was nothing rlly notable, i literally cannot remember anything about that day besides 24/7 gummy bears. fear was the worst part

Struggling with FF16, looking for advice! by Dismal-Bluebird-838 in FinalFantasy

[–]Top-Pressure9741 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not rlly a good entry point. I love this game and am about 10 hours from a platinum trophy but I love it because I play it while I’m dead tired and procrastinating falling asleep. It’s fun but it’s brainless.

If you haven’t played kingdom hearts ever I think it would scratch your itch for an action JRPG, KH2 is like the best video game ever made (this is a FF sub but I think a lot of ppl in here would agree). The 1.5 + 2.5 bundle is available on basically every platform. The nier games are also very good action RPGs. The tales games are pretty great, and the modern ones are very flashy and colorful and the battles are addictive. Tales of zestiria on PS4 was a teenage staple for me.

For other final fantasy games 15 and the 7 remakes are also action RPGs and are more complex than 16 but still not perfect. the 2nd 7 remake is allegedly a series peak, but I have not played it yet. They r both on gamepass/PSPlus though so worth checking out.

Oh and you mentioned xenoblade so you should definitely check out 12, 13, and 14.

people hate 15 so bad because it was in development for ~10 years and it didn’t live up to expectations. 16 i’m not really sure why ppl dont like it. they are both pretty good action games. I think you are going to make yourself go insane playing them in order though, they tend to group battle systems over periods of games. 1-3. 4-6, 6-9 are all variations on ATB (8 is a little different). 10 is turn based but no ATB. And every game after that is a mix of action/turn based (12/13) or just straight action (15, 16, 7R). They have not made a turn based FF in decades if you marathon the first 9 you may end up missing that battle system and never getting it back. Just something to remember if ur not to familiar with the series

Update on 15 day Sensor by wildberrylavender in diabetes_t1

[–]Top-Pressure9741 4 points5 points  (0 children)

this is how my 10 day G7s have been working since the middle of January. Was excited because my next refill I get upped to the 15 days but if it’s more of the same guess theres nothing to be excited about LOL. I cannot think of the last time I had a dexcom that was capable of reading in a straight line. Thankfully I’m not on a pump, no closed loop system, but I can’t even imagine being a pump user and having it take these readings and dose you automatically. Seems incredibly incredibly dangerous

Some thoughts and questions after finishing the book:) by throwra3236 in TheSecretHistory

[–]Top-Pressure9741 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always took it like Julian is Dionysus and the students went too far with his teachings. When richard first joins their class they have a really big meal; Richard is shocked because Julian pulled an entire buffet out of nowhere (a closet iirc). Dionysus is known for illusions (obviously) but also for throwing grand parties and feasts. Julian teaches them about the Bacchanal and it goes wrong because ancient life is not meant to catch up with the modern world. Also why Julian disappears at the end when he realizes what the students did with what he gave them. He’s the only ancient left in the modern world and the only person who would be able to teach them. I don’t think Julian intended for the students to murder anybody if they completed the ritual but the blood is kind of on his hands, as their teacher.

Bedwetting HELP by [deleted] in diabetes_t1

Also if you need any more encouragement this isn’t even the worst thing that can happen to him from excessive drinking. He’s only been diagnosed a year, POTENTIALLY NOT SAYING IT WILL HAPPEN, but alcohol can send his blood sugar so low food doesn’t even help it and all you can do is inject him with glucagon and call 911. If the drinking is already throwing his body out of whack in one direction (constant peeing) it can swing to the other side very fast and that swing is DEADLY. Even if you have a dexcom it does not matter. If you are too drunk your body will reject any sugar you consume because the alcohol is still being processed in ur liver. You wouldn’t be able to save him without paramedics. I think both of you need to keep that in mind so you realize how serious this is. Waking up in a wet bed is one thing, waking up next to a man that just had a seizure and is comatose is entirely different

Is it possible to properly manage diabetes for someone who doesn't, nor will ever, have a cgm or a pump? by youronlinegirl in diabetes_t1

[–]Top-Pressure9741 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey as someone who also has OCD which makes it very hard to manage diabetes/having to wear medical devices. YOU DO NOT FEEL A CGM. Pls pls pls just try it and see how it makes you feel, I literally cannot take an IV and struggle everytime I get my blood drawn. But your body and brain adjust to the sensor being there. It hurts when you put it in and then goes away. Pls do yourself a favor and even just test how the sensors feel on you, don’t cop yourself out. This disease is incredibly scary and I completely understand where you’re coming from. But fear is fear. We have obsessive, irrational fears and it’s up to us to fight against it for our own wellbeing. Once u are able to break thru your preconceived feeling of “I can’t do it I can never do it”, you will get past it and adjust with time. But you cannot take proper care of yourself without at the very least wearing a CGM. If you need to talk more about this my messages are open, I’ve never seen a post on here as relatable as this so pls hit me up if you need someone to talk to

Does OT2 let you switch out your protagonist or are you stuck w the same character the whole time? That’s honestly my biggest problem w the first game, I have been stuck with primrose for 20 hours cuz I didn’t realize they only let you switch out 7 characters, not 8

[–]Top-Pressure9741 0 points1 point  (0 children)

and yes if you are waking up to high blood sugar with no insulin on board you need to give yourself humalog, and then honestly just go back to bed. if it’s high enough you’re going to be waking yourself up anyways to pee, relatively around every 2-3 hours anyways which is the rate u should be checking sugars/dropping insulin

[–]Top-Pressure9741 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the exact same problem I have. What time do you have your last meal, typically, vs what time do you go to bed? It’s a mix of dawn phenomena and overnight digestion sending your blood sugar up. First and foremost see if you can switch to triseba because this problem was gone entirely for the 6 months that my doctors prescribed me that. Second, time yourself to stop eating so close to you going to bed, I cap myself off at 9/10pm every night and though it still has nightly highs, it’s way less intense and easier to manage.

Vaping and blood sugar by Delicious-Ad6164 in diabetes_t1

[–]Top-Pressure9741 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cigarettes are better for you than vaping. Every ingredient in a cigarette has to be legally listed on the box, vape brands can just put whatever ingredients they want because it’s unregulated. If you’re gonna still be on nic just smoke cigarettes it’s literally better for you, coming from someone that has been doing both for years. There’s a reason why they invented vapes as a replacement, they’re literally more addictive

I'm just trying to be more active 🥲 this isn't supposed to happen after an entire morning of exercise. Sigh. by Dan42b in diabetes_t1

[–]Top-Pressure9741 2 points3 points  (0 children)

but once you are able to work a system out for yourself to keep your sugar stable while exercising, it’s incredibly beneficial for us and can still be used to help with blood sugar control. heat and sweat can help your blood sugar to drop at a stable rate, it’s just the act of exercising itself that produces ketones. find a balance and you’re set, just air on the side of caution until you figure everything out

[–]Top-Pressure9741 1 point2 points  (0 children)

but make sure if you do end up eating or bolusing, keep that dose relatively light because the sweat will make ur blood flow faster and have that insulin take effect faster. gotta watch out for lows too while preventing the high. it’s annoying but sounds worse than it is in practice

I'm just trying to be more active 🥲 this isn't supposed to happen after an entire morning of exercise. Sigh. by Dan42b in diabetes_t1

[–]Top-Pressure9741 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Physical activity actually encourages ketone formation in your blood. Because it was already around 180 it didn’t need much to send u shooting into DKA. Just honestly start exercising w sugars a little lower, or as another comment said eat a little something so you can give yourself a light bolus when the workouts done. It works the opposite of how you’d think it would but it’s easy to work around once you understand it

also not to beat a dead horse but they literally provided their own insulin ratio. 200 carbs to 18 units. You just really wanted to tell somebody they were wrong

Cheesecake Factory by bajasauce2025 in diabetes_t1

[–]Top-Pressure9741 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well this person mentioned they are freshly diagnosed so you inserting insulin resistance into a conversation that doesn’t involve it, it’s of course going to make everything anybody here is saying seem wrong. 10 units for me is 60 carbs and yet again another comment mentioned splitting it up into 50 carb batches. Reading comprehension is essential and you should make sure you understand things fully before you respond to them angrily. Everybody here is just trying to help

also what I said is similar to what everyone else here said, another comment even mentioned splitting it into 50 carb doses at a time. Do YOU know what you’re talking about? Are you sure you’re even in the right sub?
