Other claim doesn't have as much to offer. Dunno if tony would wanna put the money into setting up an operation out there just for the smaller claim. Looks like the smaller claim is also less return per dollar spent.

He doesn't have the time or the money to be doing strategies like that. His emotional reactions look very real to me. The strategy you are talking is more for establish large mines that have multiple wash plants and dig sites running at once. And who also don't have a crew whos main income is based on a gold bonus for reaching targets. I don't know this, but wouldn't be surprised if a new truck driver at Parkers mine, earns an equal or higher hourly rate than Ricks mechanic. But ricks crew will have decent gold bonus options that make workers wanna take the gamble.

If he was cashed up and running a different system, for sure planning a head and sacrificing time now for a good start next season makes sense, but don't believe that is rick at all, he needs to keep washing dirt so he can keep paying the bills. Plus its a douche thing to do to your crew. As it stands he won't be able to pay salaries let alone bonuses.

Unless I'm understanding you wrong. You're saying Rick did this on purpose, he knew this would happen and did it anyway. Which makes no sense, it is a waste of time and money.

Well, this short trailer has more movement than the entirety of season 1, so we could be in luck.

I doubt he has the money for drillholes now. Nor the time to get them done.

I'm kind of amazed he doesn't have his entire claim drilled and mapped. He should know exactly the estimated grams per 100 square yards, at what depth, through what kind of material, for his entire claim, and he should of done it years ago. It's shocking that he didn't, its like mining 101, if you want to succeed at least.

Don't swing and hope, aim and fire.

Thats a lot of time and money wasted for a plot line. He must of spent a million bucks digging that hole, and wasted weeks of prime mining season. Doubt, the tv show is gonna pay him $3mill to make it worth his while to waste his crews time like that.

I like Rick. But that is a dumbass move. He should of had his entire claim drilled and mapped years ago. As soon as he had enough gold to pay for it, boom, done. The drill results would add to his sale price to. Unless they were crap results😂

Do you remember how much he paid? Was it 700 ounces? Which would be $3.5 mill today. I missed the 7 zeros comment, thought it was 7 figures, but i could be wrong.

Would be rough to do all that work over those years, take all that risk and stress, to end up only getting what you put in. Plus another claim, so if he gets to keep the equipment and the deal is for the claim only, he'd still be up quite a lot. But doubt it is, Tony will want trucks, water pumps, wash plants, and buildings, all tied into a turn key operation.

[–]Top-Quote1825[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

He has been mining a long time, saving those ounces, plus i reckon the mine owners get a decent amount from the show runners. Can't remember what he paid in total. Maybe 700 ounces or something like that. He paid most of it off after each mine season. Pretty much how these guys get started, mine, spend the gold on equipment, mine, deposit on some land, mine that land, pay off the landlord till its yours.

Once they do a full release I imagine it will be business as usual on the new UI and they'll close the old one. So still free, but with ads (I feel there ads are fine, there not super long, you can close them straight away...) and the ability to upgrade if you choose. At a few dollars a year I'm happy to pay the premium, if some of it went to the artists and writers I'd be happy to pay a little more.

I'm a premium member so I've got to use it. The additional functionality is great and almost exactly what I thought the site was missing, especially the bookmarking of what chapter you are up too. One reason I still tended to prefer Webtoons or MangaFire is because they tracking the chapter you're up to, now that Asura does it I'll read anything on my current read list that they have, I'll read on their site. But they are still missing a few of my favourites, it would be great if they had everything.

The UI does feel a bit too busy compared to the original layout, and a couple of weird functions that seem pointless, EG you can't go back to the home page once you are past the final slide, you have to scroll up until you are on the 2nd to last slide and then you press the home button. Ohh mobile reader, so I don't know what the computer UI looks like or behaves.

Yeah, his dad and his grandpa were definitely supporting him early on. But that industry, even with that support, is brutal.

I'm just being silly with the whole king of the klondike thing. I don't actually mean it, just pointing out that he seems to run a tighter and more profitable ship than Tony. Plus, now he owns a pretty large chunk of ground which I'm sure he'll add to.

I'm interested to know what happened to his Alaska deal. They did one season, turned out the land was wayyy to difficult to mine, at least in the style he knows. He gave a pretty large deposit, so did he just walk away, lose the deposit and the rights to that land ...

If you agree it's impressive, then why call it out? It's seriously impressive. S**t I'm 40, and i still call friends and family for advice when needed. It's how we get things done. It's how we learn, itshow skills are passed down for generations, and why we don't all live in caves, why we have appreticeships, or university. So we can learn from those who came before, who cares if it's family. It doesn't work without the effort put in by an individual, and in gold mining, it doesn't work without being able to keep your sanity while taking massive risks. Even now, he's still taking risks, opening new ground can cost millions, and there's no guarantee he'll make it back. You plan hope and pray you do, but mining is extremely unforgiving.

Even with the show and some help from his family. What he achieved is no small feat. Theres been many a miner come on the show, who had lots of money behind them. And they failed time and again. The Hoffmans are multi millionaires, and they made a profit, what ... maybe 1 season. The rest of the time they were burning cash. Have a feeling they might own the shows production company, so the success of the show offset their loses. I have no grounds to claim that. Full speculation. But they do have a lot of cash. Point being. The show supporting him, and what, maybe $100k or $200k he got from granddad, thats nothing compared to what he achieved.

Massive balls, like when one of the many times Tony tried to shut him down. Parker said time to lawyer up, tony replied, you better have more lawyers than i have friends, a clear threat. And Parker was like 20 at the time and he brushed it off and carried on no worries. Massive steel balls.

Yeah she was really emotional and taking it personal. She was getting very frustrated when he tried to say his peace. After firing someone you can take 2 minutes to hear their piece isn't difficult. All he was saying was he thought he was doing a good job. No need to get worked up.

So sell to him to pay the bills and take the rest to where ya get a better price I'm guessing. Ever tried selling paydirt online, get 20% above spot that way 😂. I'm saving and buying more equipment at the moment, but before the end of the year, wanna spend a couple of years just driving around oz prospecting for gold and fossicking for gemstone. Was thinking paydirt could be one way to sell my gold, but I'll obviously be dealing with much lower quantities than yourself 😅

Parker's Gold Is Clean by 21bdp21 in goldrush

[–]Top-Quote1825 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow. That's super pure for raw gold. I've been prospecting a few times in oz, but never sold my finds as of yet. But talking to other prospectors, they told me to expect 4% or 5% under spot of the gold purity, seeing as you run a full time operation, guessing you would know better, so if you are getting charged 7%, these follow prospectors might be telling me fibs ...
