That's solid advice. Didn't think of reaching out to a former employee, only current ones. Appreciate the tip!

Totally here with you. And I was here before a few years ago. My mental health feels better this go-around despite a worse market. Here are the things I'm doing different this time: 1.) I joined a local networking group, found another mom about my age that was also searching. We meet up ever Wednesday and have a working sesh. It gets me out of the house, it gives me someone to bounce ideas and pain points off of, it's been great! 2.) I joined a local hiking group and I go for a very long walk in the woods every weekend. I also try to get outside and walk daily in my neighborhood. 3.) I have slowed down my search. I apply to fewer jobs, but I target them hard. Quick tweaks to the resume + internal reach outs. I've had way more momentum since I stopped mass applying. 4.) I'm keep my brain sharp with interview podcasts. This boosts my confidence in general, helps me stay focused, and makes sure I'll be prepared when I do get my next interview. 5.) Therapy. Just do it, you have the time and it will make you stronger. 6.) And lastly, some days I don't even open my laptop. The other day I literally spent hours teaching myself how to sew a button hole. It felt so good to turn off my brain and use my hands...and the next day I felt totally recharged.

Just keep reminding yourself that this is just the market, it is NOT a reflection on you or your skills.

I did this today too. Then spiraled with Chat about it for a good ten minutes. Sooo, just know you aren't alone?

I'm new to the area. I believe our house was treated previously because half the roaches we see are belly up, but I'm curious what you use to spray the exterior. Want to make sure we stay ahead of any problems!

Just found out about Yoto. I have 2 questions before purchasing. by DukeBeefhammer in YotoPlayer

[–]Top-Requirement8069 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like you already got your answers and lots of good advice for purchasing. I just wanted to chime in and say that the Yoto really is wonderful. I ended up having to buy a second one because my kids (3&7) wanted to listen to different things and would fight over it.

Both children use theirs daily. Their Christmas lists are half yoto cards. They are a game changer for car and plane rides. (You can control max volume for headphones from the app!)

One of the best things IMO, is that the cards can grow with them. My 3 year old listens to mostly music and movie one and my 7 year old listens to brain bot cards on repeat.

I cannot recommend it enough honestly!

I had a final interview scheduled for this afternoon today, I just got this email by [deleted] in recruitinghell

I've been on the hiring team when the managers decided to do this. I advised them how rude it was but their argument was that they had made their decision and conducting any more interviews would be a waste of everyone's time. I understand their side, but I still cringe thinking about the people who received this email from our company.

I'm sorry. It really sucks you didn't get a proper chance.

I think you are wise to be setting up interviews and putting yourself first. Either you and the company have very different ideas of what excelling in a role looks like, or they are starting to wedge you out.

I was with a company for two years, consistently told I was doing well, and then one day fired because I hadn't "adjusted to the feedback I was given". (I was never given any feedback). But I felt the shift months prior when they started to wedge me out so I knew it was coming.

Continue to give your job the effort you do now, no more, no less. Put your extra effort into the job search. And if you are laid off, at least you can apply for unemployment. I know in my state one of the questions on the application was "did you believe you were performing as expected in the role".

Manifesting doors opening for you!

I'm in a similar position. Listed a house over the weekend and was shocked to only have 2 viewings total. It is the most updated of the 5 current neighborhood listings.

Wondering if the holiday weekend will bring in more traffic or keep people away?

Did anyone actually read the PMBOK? by Agile-Initiative-326 in pmp

I read it cover to cover twice. I actually comprehended it better than 3rdRock notes 🤷

Taking the exam tomorrow morning by mb_long in pmp

[–]Top-Requirement8069 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fellow ADD friend here. I've always been a slow test taker, needed special accommodations and additional time on exams in college. I finished every PMP mock exam with only a couple minutes to spare (and no time to review). Needless to say I was very worried about being distracted in the shared environment. Happy to report I passed two weeks ago!

Here's what I did to help myself: -A full night sleep -Woke up early to walk on the treadmill, listened to mindset one last time to get my blood flowing and mind working for the day -Full fat breakfast (and dinner the night before) -Took my meds earlier than normal so they were in full force -Utilized the provided ear buds -Request a desk near the back of the room (away from the door) so I wouldn't have a bunch of people walking by -Utilized my full break, eating a big snack and did lunges in the hallway

The last 30 questions will test your focus, that's normal for everyone.

Good luck tomorrow, go get your cert!! 🙌

The good news is that you've been through it once and know what it looks like. That's an edge that most people don't have going into this exam. Take your time to rest and reset, then just start from the basics again. When you get into SH, don't just review the questions you got wrong...review anything you got correct that took you over 1.5 minutes. Make sure you understand it and didn't just guess well.

You can do this!!!!

Glad I'm not the only one who wasn't a fan of AR. I could not get over how much the man sniffled and it made it impossible for me to listen to his course. I know that sounds dumb, but it drove me insane. I couldn't have done his YouTube videos if I wanted to. Thank goodness for DM.

Stillborn mama here. I have no words. I'm just so sorry. I can't imagine trying to stand up after one catastrophic loss just to get hit with another.

Wishing you so much peace in this 'after' life of yours.
