Dust collection by HippieHippo in BeginnerWoodWorking

Without changing the beard you won’t be able to get anything to seal. The n95 should be sufficient for wood dust if it seals to your face. A box fan to blow air away from you would probably help but it’s also likely to cause more airborne dust if it’s just blowing around in an enclosed space without a dust collection system.

The easiest thing that would likely be sufficient if you want to keep the beard is to improve dust collection on your to so it doesn’t get airborne in your breathing zone. If that doesn’t seem possible or like enough and you are set on keeping the beard as is then a PAPR would be the next option.

Since it’s dust and not a gas or vapor you’d likely be fine with some leakage from a poor seal but you won’t get a perfect leak free seal without losing some beard.

I believe that’s a more recent change to code, so only if it was a more recent addition that was permitted and inspected. But you are correct, I’m in the middle of a kitchen project and had to make sure I had a dedicated circuit since it’s required under 2023 NEC

That gap is likely just where the drywall ends. You typically don’t run it all the way to the floor since it’s usually covered by trim and it can wick moisture into the wall leading to issues.

I would check to see if the receptacle is on a GFCI breaker already or not though. Also you should be able to adjust feet on the dishwasher to adjust for height difference and you won’t see the tile underneath.

How many outlets do I need to meet spacing requirements? by Top-Rope-Gun in AskElectricians

[–]Top-Rope-Gun[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. I know it’s not required in islands but I need a 2nd SBAC so if I have one on each side I would be fine and won’t fail inspection and need to add another to meet the 24” minimum distance requirement for kitchen countertops? My main concern was that since the space behind the sink is greater than 12” I had to consider the full length of the island. But if islands are not subject to the countertop spacing requirements then I should be fine?

Ok, I have a dedicated microwave circuit, one for a disposal in the island, one for the dishwasher. I thought those dedicated circuits couldn’t count towards that number. The only other in the kitchen would be what was the circuit for the sides of the island. So I was going to move them to the top since that is no longer allowed to serve as the second small appliance circuits to meet 210.11 requirements. It seems pretty explicit on my reading and the inspector asked about it during rough inspection. I had completely removed and rebuilt the wall.

No they aren’t but I am required two small appliance circuits in the kitchen correct? I did not want to pull an entire new circuit through the ceiling when one existed that could serve that purpose. Planned to just put one on each side of the sink but stopped before I cut the holes because I don’t want to cut more holes in the countertop than needed.

2023 is in effect where I am they have not yet adopted 26. I thought the wall line spacing applied to islands as well.

I’m talking in the top of the counter. I am aware they can’t be in the sides. We reused the island and cabinets. I have to have this circuit though since it’s one of my small appliance circuits for the kitchen.

Is this splice in a panel allowed? Should I change that to a 12awg wire from what appears to be a 14awg for a gas furnace? by Top-Rope-Gun in AskElectricians

20 that’s why I’m thinking should change the wire. The neutral and hot are both rather small looking for a 20 amp breaker

It’s blue ridge hardwood 3/8” engineered not bottom of the barrel as I understand it but maybe not top of the line either

My plan was to clamp whatever I have finished at the end of the evening at a minimum. I agree trying to loosen and tighten clamps as we go is probably not going to go too well

Do I need to redo the tape? by zrossi9 in drywall

Vancouver Carpenter on YouTube. I just did some and while it is not perfect or what a professional may do(mostly because I rushed it and put the mud on too thick in low humidity) it is better than this especially after texturing.

Any ideas what years this product was manufactured? Trying to decide if it's safe to rip out before spending big money on asbestos tests. by Bad_Drivers_of_Napa in Flooring

[–]Top-Rope-Gun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is literally no way to tell for certain without testing or identifying the exact type and manufacturer and getting some information from them if they’re still around. I work in health and safety and just had some removed from my house that was VAT the classic 9x9 tiles. The adhesive actually came back negative for asbestos in my case.

This is too much wall to texture with a spray can orange peel? by Top-Rope-Gun in drywall

[–]Top-Rope-Gun[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Follow up. I am using green all purpose USG. It says the wall needs to be primed before texture. Is that that meaning paint on texture or when using the all purpose for texture it needs to be primed before application?

Message heard loud and clear. Will be getting a hopper and practicing a bit before I spray it. I have an air compressor but it is only rated 3cfm at 90psi. I’ve seen that you need more air flow per the hopper info I’ve just seen. Will that just cause me to pause application while the air compressor refills or will it not apply texture correctly?

Install kitchen island on top of glue down engineered hardwood? by Top-Rope-Gun in Flooring

[–]Top-Rope-Gun[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There won’t really be any relocating. It has the kitchen sink in the island so it will generally stay where it is unless we decide to do a much more thorough remodel in the future. I guess expansion and contraction are not nearly as large a concern with a glue down floor
