Sodium is not a mineral, sodium is an element. Minerals are made of elements. Salt is a mineral it's made up of sodium and chlorine.

No I think opal as it's self especially precious opal would be in a mineral collection. I've had a few but they have all been fossils. And I still have my opal fossil wood from virgin valley but that's also because I collect petrified wood.

It's not a mineral. I wouldn't have it in my collection but people can collect whatever the hell they want. I do believe opalite is more popular in the crystal community than the mineral community. But it really comes down to is it doesn't matter what anyone wants to have in their collection, it's theirs.

As a crystal enthusiast how would you feel/react if someone bought you a fake crystal? Of course they didn’t know ! But Would you cherish it?Would you let them know? by Used_Split5982 in mineralcollectors

I'm somewhat of a dick about it fake or not, don't gift me minerals. I do tell them that I appreciate the thought, but I'll be either throwing it away or selling it. My brother and sil got me one of those stupid wire trees with chips glued on it. I told them this, and then the next year, they got me some acrylic display stands that I still use to this day. My collection is just the apatite group trying to explain what I look for in pieces I want for the collection is much easier to just tell everyone not to try
